"You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield."
Psalm 114:11 ESV
“and I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, deliver my soul.
The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.
The Lord is the keeper of little ones: I was little and he delivered me.”
Psalms 114:4-6
Psalm 114
1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
2 Judah was His sanctuary, and Israel His dominion.
3 The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
Tremble at the Presence of the LORD
1 When Israel left Egypt, when Jacob’s family left people who spoke a foreign language, 2 Judah became his holy place and Israel became his kingdom. 3 The Red Sea looked at this and ran away. The Jordan River turned back. 4 The mountains jumped like rams. The hills jumped like lambs. 5 Red Sea, why did you run away? Jordan River, what made you turn back? 6 Mountains, what made you jump like rams? Hills, what made you jump like lambs? 7 Earth, tremble in the presence of the Lord, in the presence of the God of Jacob. 8 He turns a rock into a pool filled with water and turns flint into a spring flowing with water. — Psalm 114 | God's Word Translation (GWT) The Holy Bible, GOD’S WORD® Translation Copyright 1995 by God’s Word to the Nations. PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 114
Tuesday, 12/26/23
SCRIPTURE:
Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, Who turned the rock into a pool, the flint into a spring. ~ Psalm 114:7-8
OBSERVATION:
Trembling doesn't always mean "in terror..."
How 'bout:
...in excitement?
...in anticipation?
...in joy?
He turned the rock of my heart into a refreshing pool...
...the cold, flint hardness into a spring...
...a source of His saving, renewing grace through His forgiveness...
...through Jesus...
APPLICATION:
Tremble in His presence...
...in anticipation of His coming...
...in the joy of my salvation...
...in the softening of my heart...
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father - may the excitement and anticipation of Your coming fill me and refill me with the joy of my salvation through Your grace and Your Son Jesus... I ask forgiveness for the distractions that turn me inward and hard and I allow to calm my trembling... In Jesus's Name, and above all for Your glory...
Yours... in anticipation of Him...
