Repost from @psillygoose • “Gilber the goose” Resin and spray paint. 2022 • My first designer toy!! In this post, I wanted to take a closer look at what went into the toy itself. Gilbert began as a standard sculpture. I typically start with a wire and tin foil armature that acts like an internal skeleton to adhere the clay. I specifically use a two part epoxy clay the hardens and can then be sanded. After the sculpt is made you then create a two part mold out of silicone. This allows for the sculpture to be reproduced. Once the mold has been made the figure can then be cast by pouring resin into the mold. After the resin set I sanded down each figure and primed them for painting. These particular figures were painted with several layers spray paint then finished with a clear coat archival spray.
