Many don't know that Betsy Braddock (Psylocke) has been Captain Britain before in prime and multiple alternate timelines. This is not a one-time new development.
Excerpt #494
The entire structure of the barn was shaking quite a bit as the giant spiders crawled about searching for an entrance. Sally and Jim moved about to make sure the boards they had quickly nailed to the weak parts of the wall still held. There was a sudden gust of wind and what looked like a dark spot opened up into a large dark circle. The wind intensified, air being sucked toward the circle. Sally could see stars dotting the distance of the pure black within it. Without warning a figure was launched several feet before tumbling to the ground. The circle snapped close, disappearing, the wind along with it. Sally and Jim ran over to the man who wore a tight black speedsuit replete with gloves and heavy boots. He seemed to have a glass bubble around his head but it had made no sounds when he had tumbled. He stood and tapped on the bubble which simply vanished.
"Who are you?" Asked Sally. The man turned and took several huge, long breaths of air.
"Mmmm. Fresh air." He glanced around the barn once he smelled the animals.
"Well...non recycled air." He said with a shrug. As the two waited for an answer the man clapped his hands together and pulled them apart. What appeared to be a pointy wizards hat appeared between them. He flipped it and casually sat it on his head. There were tiny silver stars embroidered all over it and it twinkled in the light that shone through the gaps of the barn walls.
"So...?" Said Sally.
"So....?" Replied the man confused.
"Oh! Right. I am Victus Demerous MMCCXXII, Space Wizard." Jim shook his head as Sally looked back at him.
"Space Wizard?" She asked.
"Quite right. Space Wizard." He repeated.
"I take care of interstellar problems of a magical nature. Like those fellows up there." He said, pointing at the spiders crawling all over the outside of the barn.
"A bit of a tarantula problem yeah." Replied Sally.
"In no way 'itsy bitsy.'" Said Victus.
"I'll have them seen to in just a moment gentle farmers." He said, stepping back and waving his hands at an open spot in front of him. Another circle appeared though through this one trees and grass could be seen. He ran through it but it did not close. Jim moved up behind Sally.
"What the hell is going on Sally?"
"I don't know Jim but if this guy says he's going to help he can do whatever he wants. We can't go outside with those things all over the place." Victus returned with a handful of glowing green crystals.
"Psionic crystals!" He exclaimed. The farmer's stared at him.
"Turns out an asteroid crashed nearby and the crystals were in tune with the brainwaves of tarantulas. They all passed out and started manifesting those giant representations of themselves outside."
"So what do we..." Started Jim as Victus dropped the crystals on the ground and smashed them under his boot. Another small circle opened and the shattered remains were sucked off into space. In an instant the giant spiders outside were gone. The farmers looked around and smiled.
"Thanks a lot there Victus!" Said Jim.
"No need for thanks!" He said, smiling back at her.
"Well at least come in and have a beer. It's the least we could do." Said Sally.
"A cold ale? Splendid! Lead the way Madam Farmer!" He said, extending his hand out. Jim chuckled and began prying nails off the boards on the barn door.
