Accidental coincidence – Fangs of Fortune vs Psych-hunter

So I decided to watch Psych-hunter in an attempt to kick the brain out FoF mode. Two series that could not be more different, right? The only thing they have in common would be Hou Minghao in a main role. Right? RIGHT?

Spoilers ahead. In a way. Be warned. Even though they don’t have much to do with the stories either of the series, I guess.

(disclaimer: troll brain powered inanity coming up. Here’s a bag of salt, take a grain or a pinch. Or the whole bag. You may need it.)

Observations appear in no particular order.

When I started watching, I believed Psych-hunter Couldn’t possibly have any parallels or other similarities to Fangs of Fortune. Like a ML with a troubled relationship with a friend from the past.

Oh.

Well.. HMH shouldn’t get chained in a dungeon this time.

Ah. But I suppose these things happen in c-dramas.

What about fighting/dodging vines. That would go a bit far.

Let’s see.  The new/future besties should not get in trouble and need saving.

So.. is there a girl involved who makes his bestie/bromantic partner uncomfortable/annoyed?

And when I tell you I have watched almost 40 C-Dramas and dropped fewer than 10, please do understand I have not been diagnosed with ADHD or autism but when I look at MyDramaList I think I should see a doctor.

2020 Psych Hunter Clif Notes (no big spoilers)

Currently viewing them as the married couple in this one. They even do full red string handfasting in Episode 3, lol. Ostensibly because Some Other Reason.

Episode 1: There is a murder mystery and the cop from Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (Zhu Xudan) is cosplaying a cop. Qin Yiheng (Liu Dongqin) uses psychology to gamble. They arrest Jiang Shuo (Neo Hou.)

Episode 2: They almost died but haven't learned much. Bioluminescent bugs flirt. Jiang Shuo escapes. Jiang Shuo uses a steam punky device to save the day.

Episode 3: They almost died and learned more. The cop does supernatural martial arts. Jiang Shuo carries a man on his back. Cop falls in lust with Jiang Shuo. Jiang Shuo nopes away hastily. Pretty city time lapse. Jiang Shuo uses a steam punky device to save the day. Psychotic shamans crying blood torment a bereaving father. Jiang Shuo and Qin Yiheng get married via red string symbolism, literally in their dreams.

Episode 4: They almost died and a bigger mystery is revealed. Qin Yiheng has daddy issues. Villain monologues at length. Another villain monologues. A cop monologues. Qin Yiheng changes his outfit to be more attractive to Jiang Shuo (no really, this is canon.) Jiang Shuo dresses up to have a heterosexual date and practices being heterosexual at a water fountain. Jiang Shuo receives a sinister note from a clown with a rose and misses the date. Cop's military general father sports a moustache he must groom for at least one hour every day. Jiang Shuo returns to his circus family (did I mention that? Oh, yeah, so he's from a circus family. I think.) Jiang Shuo uses a steam punky device to save the day.
