For the character meme: maybe it's just some of the things we were talking about but you remind me a bit of the narrator from The Fall by Albert Camus. I think something about the attitude that character takes to things he recounts having done or experienced is evocative of you. Not necessarily like what you'd say and be like but somehow reminds me of you .
I'm sorry but I don't understand why you hate feminism. I really don't want to make a big deal out of this, I'm just curious as to your opinion. - I mean from my understanding of feminism it is that all genders (male, female, or non binary) are all equal- in that of work, social, and political views. A feminist is someone who believes this. If I'm not mistaken.
Back when I was a sophomore in high school, I was super into this SJW stuff. I believed every word that I read on this website without questioning it or doing my own research. Only after leaving home for college and actually experiencing the world did I realize, “Wow, the world isn’t as bad as I thought it was.”
Watch this; it’s basically everything that I believe about feminism.
I hate what it’s become and what it stands for now.
While I guess, originally feminism was meant for all genders, it’s obvious now that the movement has become very one-sided (come on fam #KillAllMen, or more recently #WasteHisTime. Congratulations). Like Lauren said in the video, there are a bunch of issues across the gender spectrum, but why is it that feminism only focuses on women’s oppression if the term (or movement) was meant for both genders? If it truly meant equality, why hasn’t the majority of feminists addressed the issues stated in the video? It’s because feminism is not about equality, despite what feminists desperately try to tell us. I don’t see women out there demanding that they want to be legally required to sign up for the draft. I don’t see women marching on the streets, shouting for men to have equal rights to the custody of their child. I saw a comment that was related to another SJW topic, but I think it applies here as well. If you’re going to go out and point out how horrible men are on the daily, degrade them constantly, and then ask men for their support, what kind of response do you expect to receive, exactly? To believe that modern feminism is for all genders is unrealistic.
The face of the movement is just too extreme for me. While not all feminists are like those extremists, it’s those extremists that are the loudest and get the most attention (this is a motive that is pretty easy to understand, given recent events). Whether you like it or not, they are the face of feminism. People like Anita and Lacy Green (is that her name?) represent the movement, who encourage a mentality of victimization and entitlement. I’m not about that life; I enjoy working for my shit, not complaining for it (please don’t kill me for that small dig, I had to; it would go against my nature not to make a joke).
A lot of the men who are “feminists” as well are nothing more than white knights (men who pretend to be feminists just to gain popularity with the ladies in hopes of banging one). I don’t know how old you are, but I’m gonna go on a limb and say that you’re in high school (please be right please be rightplease be right). You encounter a lot of these guys in college (trust me, they’re everywhere). So while sure, there are men out there who legitimately are feminists, more often than not, they’re just white knights looking to get in your pants. Feminism to them is nothing more than a joke, a tool to get some pussy. That says a lot about how the movement is perceived by society.
It has to deal with feminism in developed nations such as America, where a lot of the “oppression” these women speak of are very much first-world problems. The wage gap has been disproved multiple times; Gamer Gate is nothing but a joke now; to me, it all seems superficial (not the right word but that’s the only word I can think of). When there are girls in developing countries that are literally burned or killed for trying to get an education, that’s the important issue to focus on (because it’s a matter of basic human rights, not “glass ceilings” or “oppression in video games”).
The movement has turned into this “conform or die” mob, and any opposition to their viewpoints are either dismissed entirely or not rebutted well. If someone is opposing you, and all you can say is “You’ve offended me, you need to stop,” that’s not growth; that’s coddling. It’s extremely unrealistic to believe that the world has a responsibility to make sure you’re not offended today. Feminism has plummeted into that mentality. When shown statistics of rapes in America between the genders, most feminists I know just dismiss it as ludicrous (which it is; it’s outrageous, but true. Numbers don’t lie). They either just turn a blind eye to the facts that move against their agenda instead of debating about it, or they come up with some long-winded, complicated reason as to why the fact isn’t true (which most of the time sounds ridiculous to me). It’s not a strong way to progress your movement if you’re just going to remain one-sided.
More than anything, I want equality for all. It’s clear that in some parts of the world, women are being oppressed, which should get more attention than what’s going on here. Across the entire gender spectrum, there are issues that face one specific gender that all need to be addressed. I just don’t believe that feminism is the movement that advocates equality, so therefore I’m not going to support them.
Uh, hi! I think you've already published the fic you were asking questions about how best to deal with translations, so I'm late on that front, but for the future, I like to use the span title html tag so a reader can hover their cursor over the non-English/non-standard text and get a translation right there.
I did not know that was an option on AO3 but that’s awesome and I’ll definitely look into that! thanks!
Wait, so what do you think are the teams? It looks like there are two, but then it doesn't quite match up... But Haru and Sousuke have to be on a different team from Rin, Rei, and Makoto, so then is Nagisa with Souharu...? Because he attacks Rei. But then is Momotori separated? Nitori on Souharugisa and Momo on Makorinrei? But then why does Rei lure him out? Ah, I'm thinking way too deep into this; I'm just so freaking excited. They're probably just on teams of two, anyway.
I think they're Rin/Rei/Makoto/Sousuke (S O U M A K O)and Haru/Nagisa/Momo/Nitori.Rin and Rei are on the same team.Momo, Nagisa, and Nitori are definitely opposing Rei.Haru is opposing Rin. Mako seems to be opposing Haru and standing with RinRei. Which leaves Sousuke seeming really ineffective standing next to Haru, his opponent, but idk.
1/2 hi :) this might not help, but I hope it does. The best thing that's helped me deal with things is being aware. When something feels wrong, think about why. Why are you having the anxiety? Is it being scared of saying something wrong, or embarrassing? Not being right? When you ask yourself, what's the worst that could happen, what are your thoughts? I'm sorry if that doesn't help, just know there are people like us, and I like to think we'd all be here for each other if we had the confidence
2/2 to say that we’re all like that. When everything gets overwhelming, for me at least, it’s really easy to become an ostrich and bury my head in the sand. Critical thinking about stressful situations can become the most difficult thing in the world, but the more I understand why I’m reacting the way I am (including going deep back into my childhood, because I’m all kinds of fucked up :) ), the easier it is for me to pause, and then realize my emotions may not be about this particular situation
Anyways, sorry, I really hope that helps, and if you do happen to want to share stuff with a random person on the internet, people are always here, including me :)
thank you i’ll definitely try like i think i subconsciously do that after the situation but i’ll see if i can do it consciously the next time it happens
i honestly truly do appreciate it i’m used to people just saying ‘oh stop worrying’ (which is physically impossible) but having people like you saying these things and reassuring me in a way helps so thank you :)
