What I’ve learned just now:

- there is actually a Casimir Pulaski Day, observed every first Monday of March in Chicago

- apprently it’s a day free from school (but not collage... or work)

- there are people who want to “send some love to a harder-to-pronounce hero: Kosciuszko”

- there is also a song by Sufjan Stevens titled “Casimir Pulaski Day” and it’s supposed to be very depressing

- there is another song titled “Casimir Pulaski Day” by Big Black

It’s kinda cool to find out about all of this. And so suddenly for that matter! It was a nice surprise.

Tomorrow March 6, 2017 is Pulaski Day, a holiday celebrated the first Monday of March, primarily in the Chicago area. (Pulaski was a Polish immigrant who helped out in the Revolutionary War, and there are a lot of Poles in Chicago.)

For folks in Wisconsin and Illinois, today is Casimir Pulaski Day, which honors Kazimierz Pułaski, who served as a brigadier general in the American Revolutionary War.
