Pull-Through Christmas Tree

This week’s hairstyle is definitely Christmas-inspired, but you can choose how festive you want to make it. This version of a pull-through braid gives off Christmas tree vibes, without having to be super flashy. However, if you want to add fun accessories (to look like ornaments) to the tree as well, be my guest! I went for a happy medium of a plain tree, but adding something that resembles a star at the top.

Materials:

1) Brush

2) Small Hair Ties (minimum 7)

3) Large Hair Tie

4) Large Hair Clip

5) Optional: Small accessories (small pom poms, bells, stars, anything Christmas-y works!)

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing through your hair.

2) Pull the top middle of your hair into a ponytail using a small hair tie. This will be ponytail #1.

3) Clip ponytail #1 up and and out of the way. Pulling a little bit of hair from both sides of your head, tie ponytail #2 below the first.

4) Unclip ponytail number one and split it in half.

5) Bring each of the halves around and under ponytail #2, while simultaneously clipping ponytail #2 up and out of the way. Using the halves from ponytail #1 and adding in additional hair from both sides of your head, tie a new ponytail (#3) below.

6) Unclip ponytail #2 and split in half.

7) Bring each half around and below ponytail #3 while tying a new ponytail (#4) using the hair from ponytail #2 and new hair from both sides of your head.

8) Continue this process until you get to the nape of your neck. I would suggest trying to get a minimum of 5 pull throughs in order to get the tree effect.

9) Using a large hair elastic, tie the last of your hair into a low ponytail.

10) Go back and begin pancaking the braid. To be shaped like a tree, you want the width of each pull through to gradually get larger as you go down the head.

11) Optional: Really create a Christmas tree effect by adding small hair accessories onto your braid, such as a pom pom star at the top. Finish everything off with hairspray.

Quick and Easy Hairstyles - The Braids

For the final part of the quick and easy hairstyles, we're going over the braids. These are expanding upon the methods from the previous segment, the ponytails. As they take the concept of braids and taking it a step further. Now for these hairstyles I am wearing my Irresistible Me hair extensions and I had to readjust these a few times in my hair depending on how the braid goes to make the clips more comfortable. As I'm using hair extensions, I'm cutting out the step of adjusting the extensions but I just wanted to note that I was doing that.

Milkmaid 

Split your hair in the middle then get rid of any knots or tangles.

Braid each side of your hair securing the ends with elastic bands. You do a classic braid, fishtail braid, or rope braid.

Expand the braid and play around with it to get it as you would like.

Take the braid and place it across the top of your head and secure behind the opposite ear

Secure any loose strands under the braids then finish with hair spray.

Faux Mohawk Braid

Gather all hair on the top of your head and tease to create texture in the braid.

Dutch braid your hair in the center of your head, tucking bobby pins into the braid as you go.

Secure the end of the Dutch braid with an elastic band, then tuck and secure the bottom of the braid underneath the main braid.

Gently pull apart the braid to create extra thickness, volume, and texture.

Finish the look with some hair spray to hold it all in place. 

Braid headband

Grab a section of hair from behind each of your ears and do a classic braid. Secure ends with elastic bands,

Take the braids and place it across the top of your head and secure with a bobby pin behind the opposite ear.

Style your hair either with loose waves or straighten then spray with hair spray.

Pull Through Braid

This hairstyle gives you the look of a braid without weaving your hair to create the look. And has become quite popular lately. My natural hair falls just a little ways past my shoulders, so this look doesn't have the full extent/fill on my length of hair as it does when I have my extensions in. But by this point the filming, my extensions were getting very tangled and I didn't want to spend an hour untangling them just to film the last part so I went without them.

Create a small ponytail using the hair from the corners of your forehead to your crown and secure with small elastic band.

Pin up the first ponytail so it is not in the way while you create a second ponytail under the first. 

Release the top ponytail and divide it into two sections.

Bring second ponytail up through the split then pin it out of the way.

Create a third ponytail incorporating the ends from the first ponytail and more hair.

Continue this until you reach the nape of your neck. Then tie your final ponytail with the reminder of your hair.

You should still have one section pinned up, release it at this time then tie an elastic band two inches lower than the previous elastic.

Use your fingers to split that section and create an opening. Pull the bottom ponytail through the opening. Repeat this step to the end.

Finish the braid by tying one last hair elastic around all the ends.

Gently pull apart the braid to give it wider and messier look. Then spray with hair spray to hold it all in place.
