Aerith in SOLDIER AU
MY VERY FAVE AU I’VE NEVER WRITTEN
Of all the SOLDIER Firsts, the girl is the scariest, Cloud thinks.
She can’t be more than a year older than him, but he’s seen her wipe out an entire pack of Kalm wolves with a single spell and then turn to General Sephiroth and lament that she singed the ribbon in her hair.
And she smiles all the time, too, serene and understanding and unsettling in a way nobody can quite put to words.
The scariest thing, though, is sometimes she’ll look at a person and behind the smile her eyes will suddenly be so sad, so unfathomably full of grief, that you wonder what she’s seen that you can’t.
Cloud never wants to find out.
(So. They take Aerith young, before she learns to keep quiet about hearing the Planet. Hojo never even gets close because jeez, Tseng’s really protective of this kid, huh, and so naturally Reno and Rude have to keep an eye on her too, and Elena’s only a wee baby Turk but she’s still a girl, too, and it’s kind of nice to be able to talk to another girl sometimes - Shinra is just so full of gross sweaty dudes, right?
And Sephiroth feels fear for the first time when a little six year old girl with green, green eyes looks up at him and smiles and says, “whatever she says, she’s not really your mother. You need to remember that, okay?”
Sitting with Aerith is the only time Rufus ever really gets to just be a kid, even if neither of them really know how.
Aerith teaches the new recruits how to use materia and she has, hands down, the biggest fanclub. Her birthday is basically a day off because everyone is too busy eating all the cake people have given her to do any work.
BASICALLY SHINRA IS SOMEHOW LESS OF A SHITSTORM WITH AERITH THERE, MAKING PEOPLE SUBCONSCIOUSLY WANT TO BE BETTER PEOPLE.)
ghostwarren i told my grandma that my favorite shows don't suck bc they don't even get a chance to suck before they're cancelled (heroes is excluded from this statement)
punkwarren honestly i would love to be his bodyguard and by bodyguard i mean “smol overprotective ball of angst that curls around him lovingly and hisses and makes dragon noises at anyone who comes Too Close”
