This is absolutely a story where no one ever goes to ihop, and the full ‘ihop incident’ is also never truly explained. I think it’s a story about getting to know people, and i think its kind of cutscenes of this friendship developing and how it grows from a little after their meeting into this defining relationship, like the stages in creation that are silly and domestic and forgettable but also foundational? And I think throughout it all they allude to like ‘well, we’re stuck with each other, ever since the ihop incident’ or make other references to it. I think it actually ends on someone asking for the ihop incident and they can’t even remember fully what happened. Yeah just a feel good story where these three are goofs and get to know each other in small ways that emphasizes the importance of small moments of intimacy and how their buildup into something so ordinary its forgettable is super cool and important.
