優れたマルチメディアデバイスとはどういったものか？──生のままの等倍に再現できるデバイスとシステムが良い
ディスプレイにしてもイヤフォンにしてもスピーカーにしても生のままの等倍な画像や音感を実現してくれるデバイスが良い。なぜなら生のままであれば創作物の場合創作者が最も目的とする最適な状態で鑑賞することができるからである。これは芸術作品などの暗文の実装が適切に表現及び伝達することに寄与する。また単に記録撮影動画などの芸術作品でないメディアでもそのままの状態で視聴できるほうが情報は等倍に正確に伝わりやすい。
特に暗文で表した芸術作品は例えば細かな色の違いなどで実装をより正しく伝えられるかが違うので実際的問題になるし、音響なども生のままの再現度であればより適切に鑑賞しやすくなる。音響に依ってはどこの音が聴こえないとかどこの音が聴こえにくいためその音符が強調されているかが伝わらないという問題が起これば、これはもう実装に関わる実際的問題である。
音楽なども音響次第で低音が厚すぎるとかインパクトなど楽しめるかは大きく変わってくるのが実際である。そのためには普通は生のままの等倍の音響で鳴らせるデバイスが良い。実際的問題ほどではないとしても画質・音質に関して言えば単に鑑賞時に美しく視えるか美しく聴こえるかでも鑑賞体験の快適さには関わってくるだろう。
生のままと言っても単に普通に聴こえるという意味とは若干違って、最も創作者が創作した状態の目的とする画像や音響を忠実に再現してくれるシステムやデバイスが良いということである。そのためには例えばデバイスのことを言えばディスプレイ等は色範囲が広い方が良いし、システムではカラーマネジメントも必要である。イヤフォンも再現できる音響の範囲が広い方が良いし（その一部として低音を再現できるかという問題もある）、現状は普通のシステムでは実現されていないものの音響もプロファイルを使って補正あるいは同期してくれるシステムが良いことになる。
