Then I learned...the loomis method!

It was handy and enlightening. And I referenced some pictures, which I’m sure I still have somewhere but I can’t quite pin down where.

I found the one for the heads on the left: Robert Marzullo’s tutorial.

Unfortunately I can’t find the other one I used, though I know it is a loomis tutorial. 

Still, as good as these look, I still felt a little uneasy. They only looked this good because they were directly referenced. For example, almost none of those heads were original angles.

Theeeen I ran out and bought the sketchpad!!

...Aaand I largely didn’t mess with it again until I went away for like a week. But I still make some progress. Mainly with heads. Drawing from reference/life still always fell apart, even if it gave me some valuable lessons. There’s still some stuff I didn’t quite realize. Like you can see me start to understand necks. 

Note that in the cross-arms photo, the second sketchier one was actually a redo.

Then came the New Decade, and one night early on I just got frustrated and said “whatever!” and started drawing on a lined pad. This time, I actually put effort into learning figures. I had already been reading some tutorials online, particularly related to animation walkcycles.

I even tried drawing from a reference...and you could see how poorly that went.
