Backstage Cuddle Sessions
♡ Heh yeah I finished three fics yesterday night hahaha yeah I went unhinged writers mode yesterday ehehe I'm okay I swear - anyways the title speaks for itself, Vee's exhausted after a long day of gameshows and ends up passing out on Shelly's lap, and Shelly just gives her gentle affection while she sleeps. Really sweet, just bonding fluff between the two, I love them ♡

"Vee!! You did great today!!" Shelly cheered as she sat on the backstage couch, tail wagging and thudding the couch rhythmically. It usually made Vee smile, but right now, she was feeling weird. She felt like her body was lead, her suit weighing her down even more until she very slowly took it off, her eyelids refusing to stay fully up despite an intense (nonexistent) struggle. Vee had no idea how she felt, but she didn't feel like the usual happy Vee, she felt honestly really bad.
"Thanks Shells... Mind if I... Just lay down for a moment? Doing all those flips and tricks made my feet ache."
"Oh, you sound so exhausted, come on over it's okay." Shelly ushered softly, patting the plush green couch cushion beside her. Vee just smiled and nodded, slowly walking over and sitting down, then just flopping down on her back, her monitor on her lap and legs on the couch, feet propped up on the arm rest. It was lazy, she looked like she was lazing there all day despite just laying down, and it was cozy. Vee's eyes felt even heavier though, her antenna lowering as she felt her body relax. Even more so when Shelly started carefully running a clawed hand over the top of her monitor, gently petting her, as if she was a cat instead of a robot.
"What are you doing, doofus?"
"Giving you the same attention Shanon gives me when I'm feeling tired, it makes me feel better, so maybe it'll help you feel better too." Shelly softly told her, gently running her finger across one of Vee's antenna as she did so, smiling softly as the robot fought hard against the overwhelming urge to close her eyes for some reason.
"I don't get you..."
"No, but I don't blame you, you don't understand yourself a lot Vee. You don't even understand that you're tired and comfortable enough to doze off on me, you're fighting sleep off like it's going to cause a mass extinction. It's okay to nod off for a while, ya know? I do it all the time and you know what happens every time?"
"What happens?"
"Absolutely nothing. I just wake up feeling better!" Shelly cheerfully informed her, getting a few sleepy giggles from the absolutely barely awake robot that had her eyes closed and one hand holding Shelly's, the fossil's other hand now was gently messing with the light grey topper on the end of her right antenna.
"Does... She ever... Leave you..?"
"Shanon? No, she might be somewhere different nearby sure but she's always where I wake up and see her. Unless she has to use the bathroom, but I think that's just what humans do. She always screams "I'm sorry Shelly, I didn't forget you" as she's running back, it's so silly." Shelly explained, getting a soft nod from Vee before she yawned loudly.
"Would you be here..?"
"Of course I'm not leaving you, I'll always be right beside you whenever I can be, Vee. It's okay, it's safe, nothing will hurt you." Shelly gently promised, pausing soon afterwards as she realized that the other had finally given up and had fallen asleep on her. The thing that gave it away? The quiet snore that came out of her, so quiet she didn't even believe it was real until she heard it again.
"Oh Vee... Oh you're so cute..."
Shelly soon very carefully felt out the different parts of Vee's hand as she thought about things and listened to her snores, the peace of the green room making it quite easy for them to just - exist together without much worry about anyone finding out they were there together. Shelly really enjoyed it, Vee - was probably enjoying the much needed recharge time and relaxation she rarely ever got. Shelly soon gently was rubbing Vee's arm as she thought, smiling at the texture of it.
"Soft for the kids, eh? Like foam... Squishy... No wonder why so many people want to hug you... You have pillow arms, soft hands and a pretty face. You're built for hugs and cuddles... You're probably so toasty under your suit though."
Shelly stopped when Vee budged, but soon was giggling when the robot just snuggled up into her even more before unleashing a slightly louder snore, then a huff of content. Adorable. Shelly couldn't help but smile wide at her.
"And you say you aren't cute... You're so clingy and adorable when you're so tired." Shelly softly spoke, watching Vee sleep for a good moment before slowly touching her chest, feeling out the shiny green metal softly, feeling it oddly rise and fall like Vee was genuinely breathing. She didn't think she could, she never seemed out of breath after her shows, but maybe she did. Shelly shook her head as she looked over at her screen, watching Vee as she stuffed her face into her overalls, which made Shelly laugh a little more.
"You're so oddly warm... So lifelike... I wonder if you really are half toon."
Shelly hummed quietly as she traced shapes on Vee's metal belly, getting a few giggles out of the other in her sleep. Shelly froze at it, then looked around, then slowly patted Vee's belly before gently tickling her stomach, making Vee start laughing and curl up in her sleep, soon gently kicking Shelly off with a sleepy "stop it!". Shelly just snorted and started laughing, letting Vee get cozy again before they both calmed down with a sigh.
"I hate you..."
"I love you too."
Shelly just rubbed the top of Vee's monitor gently again, watching as she dozed right back off, then smiled as she gently played with the end of her left antenna again.
"Oh how I love you, Vee."
Shelly gently leaned over and gave the tiny grey ball a kiss, getting a confused little snort from Vee before she just yawned in her sleep before just casually ignoring it. Shelly just chuckled at that, soon just tracing shapes on Vee's once again exposed belly once she had flopped back onto her back, just listening to her sleepy breathing and quiet snores. It was peaceful, it was quiet, not even Veronica made a noise when she inevitably walked in to check up on them. She just honestly looked at the two, nodded, offered her a water, then a snack, and then she was off. Shelly just sat there, eating a snack as she kept giving Vee all the gentle love in the world.
Veronica just walked over to Shanon, shaking her head as she started laughing.
"You won't believe what Shelly managed to do."
"Oh, what did she do this time?" Shanon asked curiously, putting her phone away as she looked up at the other, soon adjusting her ponytail a bit as Veronica sat down on the couch beside her.
"She managed to lull Vee to sleep, like, out cold and snoring sleep. You know how hard it is to get her to just lay down to recharge? She's a goddess, a tech goddess, how does she do it?" Veronica questioned before laughing even more, and Shanon soon was laughing with her, having absolutely no idea how Shelly could even do such a thing.
"I have no idea, I expected Vee to be the one putting Shelly to sleep, not the other way around. Oh that's adorable though, do you think they're dating?" Shanon asked, getting a shrug from Veronica as she calmed down and gently fixed her bangs the best she could.
"Probably, wouldn't be surprised. Wanna go grab lunch after getting one of the other handlers to keep an eye on the two?" Veronica suggested casually, getting a nod from Shanon as she picked up her phone again, but before she could even say a word, Sam came over to the two and just signaled them to go.
"Oh, Sam, you sure-?"
"Sprout and Cosmo are working with the kitchen staff, they won't let those dumbasses burn shit, I promise you the lesbians are safe with me. Unless Vee bites."
"She can't Sam, I promise, no biting robots here." Veronica reassured, getting a chuckle and a nod from Sam as they walked right past.
"Good, good, now hurry your asses, it's pizza day and Sprout has the pizza oven running, get some before they sell out." Sam called out, so the two got up and soon were walking off, Shanon yelling a quick thank you as she started off. Sam didn't reply, instead they just sat down in the doorway to the green room silently, watching Shelly as she kept gently giving a very obviously knocked out Vee attention. They couldn't help but smile at the two, at how peaceful and sweet they were together, at the large amount of trust they obviously had in the other to even let themselves act like this. It was adorable, and Sam honestly hoped they got to have so many more peaceful little moments together like that in the future. Just them sitting together, quietly bonding, not having a worry in the world.
Just existing in love together.
Just being toons.
They definitely were in love, but Sam didn't mind one bit, nor would they ever tell a soul. At least, not at Gardenview, that is.
