out of curiosity, is that obsidian you use for your notes? (if so which plugins do you use?)

Oh, yes, it is Obsidian!

I was previously using google docs but found myself limited when jumping between research, outlines and character scenes/lore. If you have suggestions for add-ons I'd be happy to hear what you like! I believe I've only installed MMB scrolling tabs, as I'm still a little, "all over the place," with the writing haha.

I've been trying to find one that lets me insert/embed video (no audio) but that's not a big rush right now. It might be more of a PureRef thing to do anyways. I've been very much enjoying the canvas view options, but I've also been delving into some, "centuries ago," lore that's been fun to explore, too.

I wish I could share more but it feels like it'd be a, "spoiler," haha, so that just means I need to gain more momentum.

A lot of these are made and maintained by one person or a small team of people, who likely have day jobs and other responsibilities, but also create these resources for us to use.

Obviously these are all free to begin with for a reason. So you don't need to feel guilty using it if you can't afford to donate.

But If you can afford just $5 or $10 dollars, show the creators of your favorite free software your thanks. Remember that there are real people behind these resources who make them free and open source out of the kindness of their own hearts. It's easy to forget the human behind the screen.

you can choose any amount to pay or download for free by writing "0" in the "Custom Amount" field:

but really it is a really good tool - you can literally drag and drop or ctrl+c ctrl+v any image into the app to save your references, and if you copy paste a website link it will automatically paste all images into the app

Blog Post 3: Final Steps and Reflections

Title: From Blender to Reality: Preparing for 3D Printing

In the final processes of design, I finished with modeling and texturing and then proceed to 3D printing. This involved for example making sure that the model gets the best preparations for exporting on an STL file.

Preparing for 3D Printing: The first effort was to inspect the model for embedded geometry or areas that are too thin and likely to fail during printing. I used the add-on called 3D Print Toolbox in Blender to evaluate the shape of the model and make some changes.

Once the model was validated, I exported it an STL file format this is common in 3D printing .

Challenges and Insights: One good point with this design was that it was uncomplicated, but there were problems with this as well. It did guarantee an easy print but there was always a challenge in how the playfulness of the design would meet functional needs.

Future Plans: In my next update, I intend to add more details in creases and play with the texture of the print. Thanks to this project, there are numerous opportunities for improving the everyday object through artistic intervention.

Conclusion: This assignment was a great opportunity to explore the sphere of three-dimensional printing. I also found out how it’s like to create an object, from the conceptual stage all the way to converting an STL file. Can’t wait till the chick comes out in print!

I love using PureRef for my art but I've also discovered it's really nice for DnD too. I've been taking specific features/spells/tables/etc. and just pasting everything there. If you press Ctrl+N, you can also type in notes too. Each character I have has their own dedicated PureRef file. For example (Lv4 Dread Hand Pugilist):

Stat Mods, Health, Proficiencies, and other important stuff:

Avrae commands for rolls that I frequently do:

Using references is completely normal if you are an artist. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I personally use PureRef to manage the hundreds of reference pictures that I accumulate for my studies. It saves them uncompressed and you can freely place and scale them, and add notes. Watch out for the file size though! I am not sponsored by them. There are probably alternatives out there too.
