Photography, Film, Video.
Recently in a ceramics workshop we investigated our mark making and tried to formulate them into three dimensional interpretations. It was a very enjoyable and intuitive process. Engaging in this process showed me that by interpreting 2D marks into 3D objects can be useful in considering sculptural pieces and also they can be great spectacles to photograph. The three photographs at the top of this post are a selection of some that I took yesterday. I am very happy with how they turned out considering I didn’t use any filtering or an expensive camera. For the two smaller images to the left I used a purple wrapper from a quality street sweet stuck to a bright desk light. I cleaned up the images by changing the brightness and contrast. I think the purple hue on the two smaller images give the photo a dreamy quality and I was so surprised how much of an atmosphere it added and it didn’t involve expensive equipment or complicated software. These photographs are informed by my mark making and I think they nod to the flow and effortlessness that dancers have when vibing to music.
