The first Star Wars reference book that I was able to consciously absorb and comprehend was the 2005 Ultimate Visual Guide and this specific little patch of text burned itself into my brain as a child, along with the accompanying images. The bottom one freaked me out for some reason so I decided “yeah, gonna agree with the baby snatchers thing because that’s scary.”

I do not often engage with discussion of…Jedi child acquisition ethics because they require more nuance than I will ever be able to give, and only for the fact that at age five I thought they should stop holding those kids by the noggin.
