Everything was dark. The aura, the castle, the village. Everything had a darkness clinging to it as if the land was expecting death and a lot of it. Mikah’s magic called out for it, wanting to drink it in but...she fought it. It was getting harder to do as the last few battles had required her to use more of the darkness than she had anticipated...and she knew that he could feel it. In 18 years, the bond she shared with Severus had only grown stronger and she had felt him use the bond for small bursts of energy during the school year.
That same bond had told him she was there, just as it told her he was in the Headmaster’s office. That same bond told Severus just how far Mikah had fallen into the darkness that had all but consumed her family. Quickly, she moved through the halls, ignoring the paintings and students. War would soon be upon them and she needed to see him.
“It’s open.”
His voice came from the other side of the door before she had even got within arms length. Mikah didn’t knock. She moved to his side and without thinking, she cupped his cheeks and kissed him. In 18 years, their kisses hadn’t been like this. At least, not without something to fuel it like a breakthrough in their work, a couple shots of fire whiskey, or sex. Mikah pulled back slightly but her lips still brushed his as she caught her breath. If she had to put that kiss into a category, it would fall under sex.
