Kansas City Barbecue! We’re visiting KC for our kids spring break this week and I wanted some BBQ. Tonight’s meal was @q39kc. I had the pick three platter with brisket, pulled pork and chipotle sausage with some pork belly added on. The sides were Mac n cheese and baked beans. The brisket and pork was super tender and tasty. The sausage wasn’t bad, but I wanted more of a punch of flavor. The pork belly was very tender, but a little burnt around the edges. The Mac n cheese was pretty good. The beans were a little too sweet for my taste, but fine. The sauces were really good. I had the Brew 39 amber ale. Not bad. My wife had the salmon with slaw and vegetables. She really enjoyed it. My kid didn’t eat anything but fries. Pretty good meal! NOTE TO SELF: I feel like I played the sides right. Next time, I won’t be afraid to commit to the chicken because I would’ve traded the sausage and the ribs for more chicken. None of it blew me away. It’s been too long since I went to Jack Stack, so I don’t know which I’d choose given the option. Honestly, I’d probably want to try a new KC BBQ place.

Currently ranked first of two June meals.
