I mean, okay, if your characters are nerds, it’s fine to refer to Superman, but when your characters are gay nerds literally called Mike, idek…

❕ they are not a canonical couple, but it’s not the point of my post. I’m not sure at all if it’s implied in ST, but given the nerdiness, the name, the superman quote, given that Queer as Folk is queer classics… Idek 😅

And also I’ve come across a note in someone’s blog combining two parts —

Queer as Folk: “There’s nothing as strange as people"

"There's nowt so queer as folk" // "there is nothing as strange as people"

which returned me to the concept of QAF’s naming, now suspiciously reminding the play of words for Stranger Things… stranger like a person but stranger like something odd, queer? and Queer as folk as in “queers are people”, and all people are strange… it feels like a full circle 🔄

I don’t mean that this is the only meaning, but it could be considered as one of them? maybe? like “the word stranger means so many things and belongs to so many idioms, but these particular two about stranger things can happen and nothing as strange/queer as people are especially good”
