honestly I could write another whole tl;dr post about the difference between unhealthy relationships and abusive relationships, because that is another area where fandom tends to aggressively muddy the waters in order to further ship wars

not that there aren’t ships that are genuinely abusive, because hoo boy.  but they’re not the same THING.  kind of like how aggressively ignoring the huge impact of a historical figure’s homosexuality on his entire life is queer erasure, and shipping a fictional character whose canonical sexuality is “I’m busy” with a member of the opposite sex is, in fact, not that.
