Day 7 of the #DettiestDecember: #TheatreTuesday I was elated knowing that I was going to see Queen Moremi The Musical. As someone who is from Ile-Ife, the story of the brave heroine who sacrificed her one and only child/son to save the the people of our land is one I've heard many times. I got to grab a selfie with @_segundada who not only played the role of Moremi's husband but is also a star on the hit @mtvshuga series. #Celebrity. #MTVShuga #QMW #QueenMoremitheMusical . Now here's where the problems were. Show was meant to start at 7 and at 7:20, not only were the doors to the theatre closed but I was still arguing with the ticket checker who was telling me that the person who will verify my online tickets from the third party website isn't around. After much hassle, we were seated at 7:45pm. A saxophonist had been playing for approximately 5-7 mins and was rudly interrupted by loud trumpets an drums. Apparently the the delay in the start of the show was because the Ooni (King of Ife) had not yet arrived and this was the royal band announcing his arrival. At this point I'm irritated and disappointed. First of all, the Queen of England would not be late (I don't care about Lagos traffic) and even if she was, the show would go on without her. Like that wasn't enough, every time someone came in and wanted to greet the king (even up until 9:30pm) they would walk right down the aisle and stand in front of him blocking the view of the audience. . Lagosians/Nigerians believe that they are posh and on a different level of the social spectrum yet they cannot compose themselves and behave the way they do when they are abroad. If we want to be regarded like prestigious and upstanding individuals, we should act as so. Whether or not he is royalty, have respect for the actors, stage crew and musicians who have put their blood, sweat and tears into creating the beautiful piece you are all gathered for. #ContinentalHotel #Lagos #Theatre (at Lagos Continental Hotel) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6ijNEIlloo/?igshid=wt1z5srj7aye
