Queerplatonic love is like how pets show affection. They don’t understand our human views on romance and what signals that. They can understand sex but they understand it differently, maybe it’s a certain place we wouldn’t expect, maybe they have mating seasons, maybe sex is painful or just something to go about their day with, or maybe they don’t care about it at all. Romance is still abstract to us and definitely doesn’t reach the hearts of animals. Yet, despite this, some show affection and fondness in the best ways they know how. Maybe they think you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to them or maybe they just tolerate you more than others because you provide care. It’s a large model of love and tolerance that is depended not on just the species but the individual animal.

It’s all so varied yet so similar, and I love that.
