hey guys do the allos know that they can have qprs too? like do they know that being alloromantic doesn't mean they can't choose to be in a qpr anyway? because qprs aren't "romance-lite" for aros, they're an entirely separate kind of relationship that anyone can have. you can do this with fictional characters too. you can put characters that aren't aroace or are even canonically dating in qprs with each other just because you think that would be a cool way to play with their dynamic. it's actually very cool and you totally should.

So, there are TONS of matchmaking servers on Discord, but none of them seem to be a space for Aro/Ace spec people like myself. And I see in a lot of Aro/Ace spec communities that they at least want to know other people who are also Aro/Ace spec. That said... I may have made an autumn themed discord server for that.

I honestly feel bad shamelessly promoting it, but I figured I'd make a matchmaking server for people to find friends or QPRs as they please since it seems to be a problem in the community. This server is 18+, so it doesn't get taken down by Discord and to keep the safety of minors a priority.

Matchmaking is totally optional and is a toggleable role in case you're not interested in that aspect. Announcements for matchmaking is also completely separate, so you don't even have to SEE it if you don't want to. We have a suggestion system, a ticket system, a bunch of self roles, a bunch of color roles, and more.

Right now it's just me moderating, but the few people in there already are very vigilant, EXTREMELY NICE, and super helpful! The server is incredibly new and I'm open to any suggestions of criticisms to make the server a better place!

I liked the process, but I don't like the result... Yes guys, drawing people is still torture- In the end, you sit and fight with a sketch for three hours... but each attempt increases the skill ⚔

(oh yes, and I'm also an idiot and decided to take the color of his scar through a pipette. And draw another scar with the same color. And it doesn't work like that.)

I like to draw them. It's so...unusual. 'Cause I usually spend five years in a fandom with no fanart because I'm physically sick-

Before that, I drew sketches without painting, and here is a new level (but this is because the skin tone is easy to select, since cartoons are very simple in this regard)

Okay. So. Hot take? Ig? But. I keep seeing people on here talking abt how kazuki and rei can't be seen as a QPR, that they act too explixitly romantic and are definitely dating married and fucking. They wear each others clothes, slept in the same bed, and are raising a child together. Etc etc.

And, look, I'll be the first to say, I do adore those two as a couple-i think they're adorable and personally do wanna believe they'll get together at the end, but like. It's not guaranteed thats how the shows gonna end. And also-there's no reason they can't be a QPR?

Like, yall do realize QPRs can be just as close and loving as a romantic relationship, right? It isn't just "bro" stuff, it's different than if you were just friends, you would even call the person your partner, just platonic partner not romantic partner?

QPRs can and do get married, adopt children, and yes even in some cases have sex. Like there's very little difference between a QPR and a romantic relationship. And as an ace/aro person I think the concept that platonic relationships are less loving or less valuable is just a very amatonormative/heteronormative idea.

Again, I love them as a romantic couple, but if someone views them as platonic that doesn't make the relationship they have any less caring or loving, just a different kind of caring and loving. And this romantic elitism is rlly annoying ngl. Like bro it's a headcanon. Let people see them how they want. Its not queer erasure if the characters aren't even canonically together. Also they'd still be queer. That's what the Q in QPR stands for. Also bc it's usually for aromantic headcanons. Which is still very queer.

Idk, I just needed to say this bc I keep seeing ppl get mad at QPR headcanons bc they don't know QPRs are different than friendships. And I just wanted to say my piece. K thnx that's it lmao--

Wanting a QPR is so weird because you basically want a bff premium (my experience, different for everyone ofc!) but explaining that to anyone allo is so weird and complicated so like you probably need someone aroace but that's so rare to find if you actually plan on like living together and stuff and then out of that already incredibly limited pool of people you have to find someone you actually like. Obviously it's possible. But damn is it a struggleeeee

Imagine if QPRs had an entire fiction genre like romantic relationships do.

Think about it: the drama, the identity introspection, the "is this romantic or not" angst, other people interpreting your internal frustration as the denial of romantic feelings when it's so much more complicated than that, etc.

Especially if they come right out and say queerplatonic.

So much creative potential.
