Genre 2: Album Cover Airica and Jack We tried to make an album cover with songs to represent what goes on in this reading. Our first song is "Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground" by Coldplay. It is a peaceful, simple song, which we thought was very good background for the hike that Brontë and Brewster do together. The second is "Hear Me" by Imagine Dragons. This represents Brewster's pent-up rage, as shown when he recites "Howl". The next two songs, "I'm Yours" and "Monsters" also show Brewster's thoughts. "I'm Yours" is about how he may not be perfect, but he is enough for Brontë. "Monsters" is about how he feels about himself, how he thinks that he isn't a great guy. "Over My Head" and "Landslide" are about Brontë and how she never saw the fight coming, like the lyrics in "Over My Head", "I never knew that everything was falling through; that everyone I knew was waiting on a cue, to turn and run when all I needed was the truth." Brontë mentions how her family is on the verge of a "Landslide". The next songs, "The Scientist", "Exit Wounds", and "Barely Breathing", are about the family's crash and burn after the revelation that Lisa is having an affair. And, finally, "The Only Exception" is about Brewster's running from the house. He says he cannot care about Brontë. In "The Only Exception", part of the lyrics is, " And that was the day that I promised I'd never sing of love if it does not exist". What we were trying to reveal in these songs is that Brewster is trying to numb himself to the world, just as the album title says. Earlier in "The Only Exception", the singer sings about how her parents fell apart in love, how her father "broke his own heart". We think the same kind of thing happened to the Bruiser. His parents' lives fell apart, and he is scared the same thing will happen to him if he lets anyone in. This is thinking outside the box because we tried to make sense through music of a concept that has been unexplained so far.
