well hello there!! i have finally managed to finish a fic again. wahoo. this one took way longer than i wanted it too because i got far too stuck on the complexities of karkat's vacillation issues. i decded that, ultimately, some of it should be saved for a fic where they're a bit older and actually dating.

i just really wanted to unpack some of the shit with terezi in a pre-retcon timeline. like it all kinda goes to shit, and it's definitely explored, but i've always wanted to see a conversation between dave and karkat in the MIDDLE of everything going to shit. i imagine things went off the rails pretty quick lol. i hope you enjoy :>>>

QuadRom flags because I couldn't find any simple ones I liked as much. Feel free to use and edit (I made them with intent to combine flags), credit appreciated but not required!

My personal explanations / how I define each quadrant under the cut!

Matespritship: AKA Flushed romance or RedRom, concupiscent love quadrant between two (or more) people. Denoted with a heart symbol, lovers are called matesprits. Commonly equated to human romance.

Kismesissitude: AKA Pitch romance or BlackRom, concupiscent hate quadrant between two (or more) people. Denoted with a spade symbol, haters are called kismesises. Commonly equated to romantic rivals and involves pushing the other towards betterment.

Moiraillegiance: AKA Pale romance, (typically) platonic love quadrant between two (or more) people. Denoted with a diamond symbol, lovers are called moirails. Commonly equated to queer-platonic relationships, involves calming and protecting the other emotionally.

Auspistism: AKA Ashen romance, platonic hate quadrant between 3 (or more) people. Denoted with the clubs symbol, the primary member of the group is called an auspistice while the others are auspistees. Ashen romance is felt by a third party to step in between harmful rivals and mediate conflict. The third party is often (but not always) a moirail of one of the auspistees.

Terms for being Asterin while experiencing quadrant attractions. For when you are an alpha who experiences flushed/pale/pitch/ashen attraction to betas either exclusively or not.

[IDs: Four flags. Each flag has five stripes of a dark red to pale red gradient and a symbol like a white flower. Each flag also has one of the four card suit symbols in the middle of the flower and is overall tinted a different colour. First flag has a red heart, and the whole flag is tinted red.
