Warm audio 47/87, studios projects c1, audio technica 2020, sterling audio fet st59, slate digital vms (all emulations). The challengers are set and ready! The results are pretty dope and with the VMS added to certain mics (the sony c800g emulation was the added emulation) it improved some mics so much that it's still worth having them record with and through them at the same time. All and all emulations, clones and real mics can be used to wonderful results and no this wasn't some scientific test. This was 3 guys (one singer) on a Sunday morning saying let's try this out and see how it sounds like in a normal studio mic selecting part of a session. And for added 😮 we didn't even use the VMS one preamp! The chain stayed as follows with the wa1073 preamp, klark teknik kt 76, klark teknik kt 2a (in that order, comps on insert of the preamp) back into the Antelope Audio Goliath. Why? Because a great chain is a great chain and that's all that matters and I promise you in 2020 there isn't a mic that can't be used in a professional atmosphere with a great chain that can't hang.
