Dead Poets Society resonates so much with a lot of people because it explores such foreign yet captivating concepts like "having friends" and "being gay"

There something so upsetting about neil perry's passion for living. Neil perry didnt die because he didnt want to live, he died because he loved it. He knew what he wanted to do, he knew exactly how he could be happy but he couldnt do it. And thats upsetting to me for obvious reasons of course but think about it, how many people in your life would rather die than not be able to partake in their passion or how many people in your life you can say have a passion at all, I can tell you its zero for me. Its not just sad that Neil had that oppurtunity and lost it but that most people wont even have it

I love how they looked while they were watching in this

Tom and sam looked like they were analysing a play

Aj looked like how I looke when I am trying to convince someone I definitely understand what theyre saying

And luke is just having the time of his life

I have seen a lot of people talk about this scene but I havent seena anyone point out this paralel so I am gonna take a shot at it

Throughout the movie we see Neil help support Todd. Todd is pretty much not known by anyone until Neil introduces him to his friend group

Neil repeatedly attempts to include him in what theyre doing, trying to get him to do at least something so he wouldnt be left out

But we notably dont see anyone doing this for neil, frequently when he is posed with an issue his friend arent as supportive of him

They are there for him sure but they dont go out of their to help neil that much so neil seems a lot more alone in his struggle than todd

And even when Neil isnt there anymore his help to Todd doesnt go away and he manages to stand up for himself

So

Todd, standing by himself

Helping/encouraging others to take action themselves

Yet still struggling himself

People, who most of whom we wouldnt have known otherwise, get the courage to stand up thanks to him

Yet Todd is mostly out of the picture

Todd became other people's neil in the end, at least in a small way
