Ardnahoe Whisky Càraid Ìleach Sherry Quarter Casks No. 2
The Ardnahoe Càraid Ìleach Edition No. 2 (100% PX Sherry Quarter Cask) is an exclusive special release from the young Islay distillery Ardnahoe, developed specifically for the German market.
While quarter casks (small casks of approx. 125 litres) are usually only used in the whisky industry for a brief ‘finish’, this whisky was matured entirely in these casks. As the ratio of wood surface area to whisky volume is significantly higher in small casks, a more intensive maturation takes place, lending the distillate enormous complexity in a shorter period of time.
This whisky is particularly aimed at lovers of full-bodied, smoky Islay whiskies who appreciate a pronounced dark fruit sweetness that can only be achieved through intensive maturation in Pedro Ximénez casks.
