Qubic Games Flash Round (Nintendo Switch)
Space Pioneer (Vivid Games): Urgh, I feel kind of embarrassed about how long I played this. This ain’t no Mana Spark, let me tell you. What it is is another obvious mobile port that’s stuffed with loot box mechanics to make up for the fact that it’s mostly just a grindy twin-stick shooter. While it looks fine (and I actually really liked the menu music???) it’s a perfect example of why you need someone game-feel focused on your team; this is all so competent, but every weapon feels like you’re squeezing a hamster to make it fart on your enemies and every enemy seems to take at least 3x the bullets to die it should (and upgrading never seems to change that feeling!) However, this is the kind of thing you can play while the TV is on and so I just kind of walked through the levels opening loot boxes (oh I forgot to mention the economy is fucked: you need tons of coins, and never have enough) until it was over. So this follows Mana Spark as an “official” Every Game I’ve Finished but I’m not happy about it.
Should anyone pay money for this? Honestly? No. It’s competent as I said but there’s no joy here at all. Plus these are the twats that made Pocket Mini Golf So NO MONEY FOR THEM.
