Y UN COQUI PORQUE BELLO PRECIOSO
It's my birthday! Could you give this Boricua a beloved coquí? <3
Feliz navidad! Here are some coquis for you...
Coqui (Eleuthrodactylus coqui), family Eleutherodactylidae, native to Puerto Rico
This frog has been introduced in other parts of the world.
The name comes from the sound of the call. "CO-QUI CO-QUI CO-QUI"
Frogs in this family go through the tadpole stage in the eggs, so the eggs do not need to be laid in the water (usually on a plant, or in moist soil).

So I heard tourists and airnbnb’s in Puerto Rico are trying to get rid of coqui’s, a frog native to PR and cultural symbol.. so I’m making stickers
I heard tourists are hurting coquis in Puerto Rico. Please die very slow.
My piece for submission to the softboysclub_ / softpublishing zine for "Rest and Resistance Zine".
I couldn't wait to share this one. I've been holding off making Taíno art for worrying my art wasn't good enough or some invisible barrier of perfection. But overcoming that little voice to just make the art reflect me, as it is meant to anyways. Celebrating how much culture and people are. I've been focusing on the Mexican side for awhile but I want to get better about depicting my Puerto Rican side and not be so anxious.
So just as Resting and Resistance is important, so is embracing all sides of ones self. This is how I will rest, the way my ancestors did. Full of love and light for myself and my people.
Also yes I did give the little coqui chilling some t scars cause I thought it would be cute ✨😏
