Rachael is queen to the neighbouring kingdom of queen Jade.
She looks after her people.
She was 21 when the crown was passed down to her.
Rachael is the proud leader of the Dragon Knights.
Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky is her personal knight.
Rachael and Jade had been friends since they were children.
They attended each other's coronations and both kingdoms celebrated both queens.
Once a year both queen gather on neutral ground between their kingdoms to discuss politics.
One year they decide to sign a new treaty to better their nations.
A spy from another kingdom hears of the treaty, but deems it a declaration of war instead.
When word spreads about this, an assassin is sent to remove the queens from power.
It is Jade he sets in his sights.
Rachael worries for her friend.
She offers some of her knights for protection, but Jade refuses.
The treaty is not complete and they carry on.
It is during this time Rachael and her knight become closer than ever.
Worried for her safety, he keeps a closer eye on his queen.
At first she thinks nothing of it.
Then she becomes used of how often he stands beside her.
A ball is thrown in celebration of the treaty.
This is when the assassin gets close to Jade, lying to her about his identity.
This is also the first time Rachael gets actually close to Tom.
He tries to state he's on duty.
But Rachael uses the "I'm the queen and you will dance with me" card.
So they dance.
This is as close to the queen as he has ever been.
They can't stop looking at each other.
They talk softly to each other.
They learn something new about each other.
They forget where they are for a moment.
He is so close to her.
His eyes flicker to her lips.
In the corner of her eye Rachael sees Jade running out of the ball.
She leaves Tom to go after her.
Tom is left wondering what just happened.
He very nearly could of kissed her.
Then he remembers he is supposed to be protecting her and gives chase.
Everything becomes a whirlwind after that night.
