The fire nation citizens(the normal every day citizens who are tired of Ozais bullshit) when they find out Katara the one that brough their prince back to life! Who was the painted lady(meaning she's sympathetic to regular fire nation citizens!) Is going to marry their fire lord.

Zuko's council is fussing about him marrying water tribe and Katara is like "exactly what is your problem here" and they're like "the heir has to be powerful!!!" (very foolish thing to say to the only female master waterbender). Somehow, Katara doesn't murder them and proposes a compromise: Each member of the council can pick someone to fight her, and if (when) she wins, they back off, but if she loses, she'll back down.

Zuko has very mixed feelings bc he has faith in Katara ofc, but there's the chance she won't and what if she gets hurt??? what if they play dirty???? But she wins and the council is literally terrified of her and Zuko is somehow even more head over heels for her.

as much as I love zutara, tbh it would have been amazing if S3 just ended without any romance involving katara whether it's with aang or zuko. my girl is so young and she doesn't need a romantic ending to be fulfilled and happy. especially not at literally 15. romance as a narrative tool for "all's well that ends well" is overrated. more gaang friendship, aang maturing and more zutara being besties™ would have been absolutely RAD
