He kisses her and kisses her and kisses her, for every single time he has wanted to, but could not. For the time when she’d freed him from the city jail, fierce and defiant even as they fled her capital, for the first time he’d seen her smile after that Nilfgaardian hammer had nearly smashed her face in two. For the time they’d stood together on the ramparts of Rivia Castle, exhausted, soaked in sweat and blood but impossibly, exhilaratingly alive. By all rights, neither of them should be here; their story ought to have ended half a dozen times or more before now. That they are is testament to her extraordinary strength and abilities; she alone could have forged their path to victory. And now, for once — even if it is only just this once — he can show her just how much she means to him.
