Mía and Me AU (WIP)

I was lucky to be chosen for one of the most prestigious schools in Florence, Italy. Maybe I could help decrease poverty considering the school's high status? Or at least... that's what I thought, “MIA!!” Called out a woman's voice. My eyes fluttered open, and I dressed myself hastily before rushing out the chamber to see her majesty, petting her scrawny cat as she talked to the military leader of the dark elves. “You promised me a unicorn by noon tide today!” The Queen rasped irately.

Gargona held up her hands in surrender with an apologetic smile. “I'm sorry Queen Panthea. It wasn’t me.” She pointed directly at the other dark elf minions to blame once again. “It was... THEM!” I rolled my eyes with a scoff, already used to the leader's antics. “They’re COMPLETELY incompetent!” She whined. 

The queen waited surprisingly patiently for her excuse, waving me over to stand by her side. “There was one unicorn in a trap, but someone let it go. It had to be THAT human here!” Pointing accusingly at me, her majesty pulls out three freshly clean-cut unicorn horns from yesterday's harvest. “Do you see this, Gargona?” The queen snides as she wagged the horn back and forth in her face. “These are from her sixteenth annual birth hunt. And all YOU bring me is,”

“A single. HORN.” Panthea reminded the woman, turning away quickly to pour the crumbling remains into the hourglass fire burning brighter than ever as the light seeped into her eye sockets of her mask. “If it weren’t for Mia, I would’ve turned old and hideous!”

Gargona grimaced, taking note of it as she glared at me briefly – covering her disdain with a bow. “Why don’t you take her with you this time? Maybe that way you’ll be competent enough to my liking.” Her majesty says with a snap of her fingers, two elves' stride in. Aiding me on putting my already loaded backpack with the woman's mouth falling agape. “Your majesty-” She stuttered, trying frantically to come up with some sorry excuse. “I can't possibly- I beg you to reconsider!”

“You won't disappoint me this time,” Panthea said firmly. With her demanding tone booming across the throne room, she yells. “GET ME MORE UNICORN HORNS!”
