16 + the first character/ship that comes to mind! :D
16. someone's pulling a gun and you're jumping in the middle of it.
Well my first thought had to be Izuku. And then oh no, dad might, but I couldn't make myself that sad with it. And then I thought about Kaladin instead but I also couldn't do that to him either, but after sleeping on it I was thinking about iideku a lot so...
There were a lot of things Izuku hadn't properly appreciated before he'd returned to UA.
A warm bed, a roof, the quiet and content feeling of safety that a quick glance around a room covered in yellow and smiles could bring. The ache of work without any pain, the ache that sleep could actually heal. A quiet mind that was his own. His friends. His friends he didn't deserve. Not if he couldn't keep them safe.
(That was not true. He hadn't taken his friends for granted for a moment. But he also saw his own failure where it wasn't.)
Iida was a rock. Izuku supposed he had always known it, had thought it would always be true, that was why he'd recommended him to lead the class.
But he wasn't sure he'd ever felt it until he was gripping Iida's hand hard enough to bruise under the gloves, and letting the taller gently tug him back home, small steps in his shadow at a time.
The emotions were muted that night, which was probably for the best because he felt so raw afterwards when they surged through him at their full power, leaving him full of gaping wounds.
They'd begun to heal now, at least, muting again. Scar tissue over his heart.
But they hadn't faded.
Not for Izuku, which was why he didn't take it for granted now when he walked besides Iida, with a pleasant and familiar bouncing gait to match his longer strides. It was comfortable. Reliable, like Iida's rock.
But apparently it hadn't faded for Iida either, because he stopped at once when Izuku did, a prickle at the back of his neck. Danger.
He scanned quickly around, trying to see from where, but Iida was already moving.
Someone was pulling a gun.
And he was jumping in the middle of it.
Izuku only had time to feel horror, because he knew Iida was fast, but he was faster, and he and Iida never were able to stop each other in time -
He remembered another white blur in another time, leaping forward to save a life that wasn't his, and he saw a flicker of red and black over his shoulder as he reached out, brushing Iida's elbow as his engines lit to light -
Iida was fast.
Iida was not faster than a bullet.
Izuku and Iida had never been able to stop each other in time to keep from getting hurt.
Iida was fast.
And Iida only needed to be faster than the finger on the gun, and he only needed to be fast enough to be sped along by the brush of a hand charged with gearshift.
Iida was not faster than a bullet, or faster than Izuku.
But Izuku didn't need to be fast enough to stop him.
Izuku's ears were already ringing by the time the sound of the gunshot going wide reached him. His throat was dry, his knees were shaking.
But Iida was still standing, behind the gunman now, and that was enough to keep Izuku standing too, to let him move to catch up.

are we talking about the child and trauma? bc... gotta remember he spent 50 years without mando, and i'm sure his former caretaker(s) were less than kind to a considered asset.
Oh NO
No wonder he latched onto Mando so quickly. He might be able to sense that Mando is a good person, considering his abilities but also - he acknowledges the child and feeds him and keeps him warm. He never yells. When he crawls onto Mando seeking the affection he hasn’t had in years, he’s not shoved off
Mando thinks he’s doing a terrible job at this fatherhood thing, but he could very well be the best parent the child has ever known
