Getting thoughts out now because JEsus @queenmedusa and I have so many thoughts

That is clearly the red lyrium idol in the center, in a breaking barrier with 7...knobby things?  two of which are still lit

supposedly 7 archdemons, 5 of which have already been slain

Red lyrium is blighted lyrium.  Is slaying the archdemons actually slowly releasing the blight?  It’d explain why Solas hates the Wardens so much.

Also pretty sure the archdemons and the evanuris are the same thing, which is meta I have had forever but never took the time to write out because I thought I was a crazy person, but that image got the wheels spinning again so I will possibly (probably) revisit it this weekend.

Also yes there is fire in that mural, yes, but toward the top it looks way more like red lyrium deposits.  I think?  I don’t know.

i love you for articulating my problem with crimson peak. i wish they had just committed with the character rather than do the sad ghost boy thing.

i’m glad someone feels the same way bc back when it first came out there were all these fics and gifsets in the tag about edith and thomas’s tragic love... and i was like well damn at least they admitted how bad thomas and lucille’s relationship was, edith is basically being gaslit and abused by thomas for the whole movie how is this romantic, why should i feel like he’s his sister’s victim when i really don’t see anything keeping him from going against her aside from his emotional attachment for her... which i GET, but just embrace it.  like sure lucille ended up killing him but if he hadn’t been a dumbass about the whole thing (getting the jump on her as the clearly physically stronger person, NOT ADMITTING THAT HE’D FALLEN IN LOVE WITH EDITH) he would have gotten away easily.

thomas and lucille were equal participants in the murder plots imo, and you could argue that he was on the worse end because while lucille was obviously batshit balls to the wall insane, thomas was sane and knew exactly how terrible everything they were doing was.  like when edith listened to the recording one of his wives made and she was all “say you love me” and he dodged and recited some little poem i was like daaaaamn this guy is a snaaaake and the movie never developed that.  sure lucille physically carried out the murders but thomas maneuvered people into place so that they were sitting ducks

I keep hearing great things about Wintersong. I really need to check it out.

It’s so good!  The author is Asian-American, I believe, so that’s kind of cool too since lbr the world of YA is kind of lacking diverse voices.  She blogs for Publishing Crawl, which is great resource for authors.

This is really interesting in general too because it toes the line between YA and adult (I’m not into New Adult for the most part and wouldn’t describe it as that).  It’s marketed as YA and the main character is nineteen, but it’s pretty frank about sex and desire, which is refreshing to see in YA.  The moral aspects are also delightfully gray and creepy.
