I flagged this post so you don't have to
I see what I see
Ethari and Freddie Mercury share a birthday. This is important.
Please enjoy the heady notion of Ethari with the sheer animmal magnetism of Freddie Mercury as he belts out the Moonshadow version of Bohemian Rhapsody. (Entire crowds would sing along with him, and Runaan wouldn't notice anyone else at all, he'd be so transfixed)
Ethari and Freddie's shared birthday is one of the reasons I headcanon Ethari as bisexual. The other main reason is that Ethari's design is bursting with the colors of the bisexual flag.
The bisexual flag:
Ethari:
Ethari in bisexual flag colors:
Pink Purple Blue Pink Blue Purple!
My favorite part about these color choices is that they're not just on things that could be altered about his look, like clothes, markings, and even his horn cuffs. They're also the colors of things he can't change about himself, his skin and horns, built right into him, the stuff of which he is made.
Happy birthday, Ethari, you fabulous bard. I for one am very glad you were born at all.

so I know Tolkien said that elves were monogamists and pre-marital sex was unthinkable but I feel that perhaps these lines are chalk-drawn and could be altered and also perhaps elves would be a lot more free-thinking than they are in canon
elves who sleep with whomever they want, because for them it is a way of expressing affection, and they are never put under any sort of obligation to enter a relationship
elves who sleep with their friends when they've had a glass of wine too many, falling into bed and laughing together
elves who fall in love indiscriminately and all the time, and then spend horrific amounts of time looking at the stars and trying to write poetry for their loved ones
elves with two or three partners or no partners, and are all blissfully happy for it
elves falling for inappropriate people - men, dwarves - and getting only gentle teasing from their kin from it because history has been kind to these people
elves renaming constellations and creating new words to describe the love they feel; elves moving mountains with their bare hands to see their loved ones; elves persuading the trees to grow into immortal monuments to their love
elves who do not have sex, who do not feel love, and are loved by their friends and families.
