ID: a video scrolling through the @queerliblib library front page displaying numerous queer titles and audiobooks.

Y’all, @queerliblib just went live and their collection is already incredible.

There are so many queer books there that I couldn’t get my local library to host. Seriously, if you’re in the US, go to their website and get yourself a library card. It integrated perfectly with my libby account and now I’m about to listen to so many books while I work.

Also, not Hunger Pangs being front and center for Disability Pride 😭. Thank you, @queerliblib 💖. And thank you for creating such a wonderful project. This is going to make such a difference for so many people.

QT Library plans to ‘build a beacon’ in Boston for the queer and trans community - The Boston Globe

After surpassing its fund-raising goal, the nonprofit plans to open a brick-and-mortar location in Boston in June 2024.

while there may not be something exactly like us there are some other queer library/library adjacent projects in the UK ex.

book 28: "a small LGBTIQ+ library based inside London's LGBTIQ+ community centre and homeless shelter, The Outside Project"

the Queer Zine Library: "a UK based dyi mobile library celebrating radical LGBTQIA+ self publishing"

UK LGBT Archive: began as the LGBT History Project before changing names, it’s an ever updating wiki with links to other resources

The Bishopsgate Institute: an independent special collections library/archive, holds collections relating to the social and cultural history of London. Apparently has recently developed to become Britain's largest LGBTQIA+ archive

Small Trans Library: has branches in Wales, Ireland, & Scotland

I'll follow in the hopes that some day you may be able to figure out how to expand to Canada or maybe you can find a team able and willing to operate a sibling branch in Canada so each country has their own branch

It would be very cool to expand outside the US one day. There would just be a lot more legal and financial hoops to jump through, so one thing at a time! Gotta get the library funded and open first.

In the meantime allow us to share some existing (generally brick & mortar, not fully digital) queer Canadian libraries & archives!

BIGGEST ON CAMPUS LGBT LIBRARY!!! 

Within the UCLA’s LGBT campus resource center is where the Rae Lee Siporin library is located. It is (one of) the biggest LGBT library located on a university campus, excluding the One Archives (which brings in the discourse on whether it would count as a library if it’s specifically an archive) at USC. 

With over 4,000′s works, (including book of short stories, nonfiction, fiction and some graphic-novels) the Rae Lee Siporin library is an amazing space to find queer works on campus. The library also has a checkout system that works on the honor system and requires no paper trail so the students can ensure their books aren’t in their school record. 

I was able to film a video within the library itself and learn a little more about it, like the work they’re doing to enhance the library and the books they have in it by amplifying voices of color and non-male centered narratives as well as trans narratives.
