how come y’all hate remadora because of the age gap but ship lily with andromeda who’s like 10 years older than her?

Age gap is not what bothers me in Remadora. I think Tonks (and Luna btw) is so obviously and painfully queer, I cannot process her in a relationship with a man. I personally ship her with Fleur.

Also I am a Wolfstar fan. I don’t read fics about them anymore, but these two are just an assumed couple in my mind.

Furthermore, Remadora ship was not at all developed in the book, JKR just slapped it on and turned Tonks into a depressed weakling.

Tonks.

A badass female Auror.

Depressed over a man.

This is an insult to any woman who has ever achieved something in her life, just to then be reduced to her assumed societal role of coupling with a man and producing an offspring.

And then there’s the whole matter of Remus suddenly becoming a coward because of the pregnancy.

Remus.

Who had it uphill all his life, with the lycanthropy and all.

Suddenly scared of stepping up.

Come on, his entire character got erased and like, what was even the point? It changed absolutely nothing in the entire plot.

My problem with Remadora has nothing to do with the age gap and everything to do with how utterly shit that ship was.

Also I don’t know who you mean by “y’all” cause as far as I’m aware, nobody ships it except for me and the anon who enquired about this.

why I don't like remadora

1. age gap. Normally, age gaps don't bother me, at all. But, in the case of Remadora and the circumstances. . it's weird. Like Tonks is Sirius' cousin or something, but she's way younger. Which means Sirius and the rest of the Marauders probably babysat her at least once. and I know, there's no canon evidence, but I mean, judging by what we know it's probably true. Plus, Tonks was born in 1973. In the middle of the first wizarding war. The one Remus was fighting in. So it's not just the age gap, it's the lack of experience between them.

2. timeline of their relationship. Tonks and Remus first get together around the end of half-blood prince. And then they're married by the beginning of Deathly Hallows? Like, that's a total of what, three months together? BUT then, it's revealed that Tonks is pregnant. Most people reveal they're pregnant at like, 13 weeks? So by the timeline, Tonks probably got pregnant mid-summer? Idk it just seems pretty odd to me. Within a few months, they're married, have a child on the way, even after Remus was wary to enter the relationship in the first place? It's too rushed, without development.

3. both characters are queercoded. I don't think I really need to explain this one, but I'll get into it anyway. Tonks literally ditched her feminine name Nymphadora for her much more androgynous last name -> Tonks. She does not give a shit about being feminine - she can look like whatever she wants and she goes for short, spiky, bright pink hair and piercings. She literally rejects gender and it's restrictions. As for Remus, writers have been using "monster" as an allegory for queer for years. Of course, how can I forget Remus' deep connection with Sirius despite the ups and downs they've been through? "Lay low at the Lupins", 40 lines of eye-fucking, they're literally the moon and stars!! Both the directors of the movies also picked up on this, so did the actors, Gary Oldman and David Thewlis who thought that Wolfstar was going to be a thing.

Despite all this, JKR thrusted this relationship into our face with no development at all, nor any chemistry.

I absolutely HC tonks as bisexual or queer in some way or another and nothing and no one will ever make me think otherwise.

You cannot tell me she didn’t get caught at least once snogging a girl in a broom cupboard somewhere and not giving a single fuck if people knew either.
