hi i'm a settled irishperson & am finally sorta waking up to anti-traveller racism bc of my college course (where "why the moon travels" by oein debhardúin was required reading). i was wondering if u knew of any resources where i could learn more that u were willing to take the time to share? i intend to go looking properly myself anyway but it'd be nice to have some starting points as well
ah! i love why the moon travels, i need to order another copy of it because it's just so good.
as for resources to learn more about minceir / irish travellers & our culture as well as racism we undergo; your first starting points are always going to be pavee point & the irish traveller movement websites. they'll provide a good foundation to start from to then leap off into other areas, & a lot of their information is incredibly digestible & easy to comprehend (i have worked with the team behind it before.)
from there, here are some other articles / resources:
bbc article about the eu commission abt our high suicide rate.
inar report on anti traveller racism in ireland.
lenus report of our public health & pitfalls.
the pontins scandal of blacklisting "traveller" surnames.
tool to challenge anti grt language by mps.
i can always link any more resources or give more input if there's a specific area you need it for 💖
