When i talk to people and ask them what do they do to make sure they can retire at a reasonable age, they mostly have the same answer.....Mutual funds.  Every time i hear that drastic word i cringe, and i feel sad for them as they are unaware the penalty they face when they finally get to cash in.  Now they have an adviser telling them how much of their hard earned money to pull out and when to minimize penalties.  I know myself i don’t want anyone telling me what to do with my life savings.  That’s why i invest into gold.  I buy gold by the gram,  it’s set up automatically where i purchase a gram a week.  I barely notice it even happens and in the mean time i watch my gold pile amass into a futuristic fortune.  What do i use gold for ?  Instead of paying a company for benefit insurance $300+ a month, i put it into gold, if i need dental work i simply liquidate enough gold to pay the dental bill, why should i pay a insurance company all this money in case i need it ?  I have 2 very awesome beautiful children, instead of putting $450 per month into a college savings account where i pay fees for the first 5 years i put it into gold, by the time they are in secondary school i will be able to pay a lot more then just books.  Secondary education has gone up %1000 that is ludicrous.  The best part is i don’t buy my gold, what everyone forgets is gold is the actual sound money, cash is credit, or used to be, what is cash now anyways ?  Worthless in my opinion, the dollar has lost 98% of it’s purchasing power while gold has kept 100% or more.

Special Shout Out!

Touching moment of the camp came when I was able to run into a person I have come to admire.  Ms. Taylor Potts is a Sprint Canoer who has done so much to inspire Karen and me.  Taylor happened to be at Indian Harbour with us, preparing for her time trials to represent Canada at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto!  

Taylor currently paddles C1; however, she used to paddle C2 with Ms. Maria Halavrezos.  Karen and I had the wonderful opportunity to have Maria as part of our team last season, when she had just retired from sprint canoeing.  She introduced our team to Taylor, and we were able to have her race with us at one of the regattas.  Karen and I were able to sit down with Taylor and hear her story, which was such a wonderful moment for Karen and me.  Primarily because Karen and I were still on-the-fence about how much time and resources we would commit to trying out for the National Team.  

Among the many inspirations for Karen and my National Team adventure, Taylor and Maria were pivotal in our aspirations.  So this was such a pleasure to have spent a couple of days hanging out with Taylor on the water, sharing in wonderful conversations off the water and grabbing a wonderful dinner together at the best Cuban food in town!

Just a plug for Taylor: she was recently announced as part of the inaugural NextGen Ontario Training Group, which is an initiative is geared toward supporting the next generation of podium potential athletes.  This is an important step in the right direction for women in her sport; just as important, this will pave the way for her #questforgold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto!  Go Taylor!
