Ohhh boy my portfolio is completely.... nonexistent lmao. I am probably one of the most casual "writeblrs" on here. I have actually been fighting a little bit of imposter syndrome because of it. I don't have any interest in being published, I don't even have any interest in making something novel worthy. I do not really edit my posts (just one readthrough for anything that jumps out as awkward) and I don't have anything in my google doc of story that I haven't shared.
But don't worry, I know that writers can be anyone, even people like me :)
That being said, I have a desire to write a story and build a world all by myself but I struggle with an absence of creative ideas. Idk what it is but when I try to think of something unique and brainstorm an idea, my mind goes blank and all ideas leave me. Been struggling with this for a few years and not sure how to get over it. Oh well. Now I think I shall mention some of the play by post RP chats I have going on!
I started playing Shadowrun with a different DM than I played with Sadie. Through that game, I created a character solely for RP and her name is Vyxen. She is a human vampire shadowrunner who works for one of the most powerful Ancients in the Shadowrun world: Harlequin aka Joker aka Old Bastard to Vyxen. He has been around since the Arthurian days and it is around 2070 in-game. Shadowrun setting is real world but in 2012 when the Mayan calendar ended, magic came back to the world. Elves and dwarves started being born, then orcs and trolls and goblins. Dragons came back into the world and corporations took over. If you've ever played Cyberpunk (love that game despite it's flaws) it's that world but with fantasy races and monsters. So Vyxen is an elite shadowrunner and Joker's team keeps very quiet about their existence. They handle the jobs that would destroy the world otherwise. My little Vyxen starts off as a vicious orphan who was newly turned into a vampire that Joker picks up off the street. He basically tames her and helps her control her urges then trains her to be one of the most effective runners ever. Vampires in this setting have the ability to heal most wounds but are very allergic to wood so as long as it's bullets she is really good about running into the fray and destroying her enemies. Unfortunately, she is socially inept and harbors a lot of anger from her time raised in a brothel. A few people come along though and soften her hard heart (plays out in a really great character arc in my opinion).
Second character is Nova. She is a pink-haired wreck, never on time, has a bit of an issue with the drug nova-coke (hence her runner name) and she forgets everything when she leaves. This was a refreshing change of pace from Vyxen who is always prepared and three steps ahead. Nova is also a drake. Drakes were created by dragons to work for them. Nobody really knows how drakes are even created, not even the drakes themselves. Nova was born to normal parents and when she was 14 a weird man turned up and showed her she has a secondary dragon form. Drakes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Her drake form happens to be a full western dragon (4 legs and wings) but her body is about the size of a large horse so she's not very big. Her scales are a deep shimmering blue and they reflect the light wherever she goes. She belonged to the dragon Dunkelzahn who was very briefly the president of the United States before being assassinated. Now she belongs to the Draco Foundation that Dunk set up, otherwise other dragons would snatch the unclaimed drakes up for their own use and most dragons don't treat their drakes very nicely. It's always something Nova has to watch out for.
What's really cool is these characters live in the same world at the same time and have already interacted. Nova is happy and bubbly and is also terrified of vampires. She thinks they are monsters. So when she meets Vyxen she definitely had a lot of emotions to work through. Nova even yelled at Vyxen and honestly, I play both of them and I don't know how Nova got out of that alive. Vyxen has a lot of issues being a monster herself early on and that didn't help. I think she mostly stopped herself from hurting Nova because if she did, that would only prove that she is a monster. So instead Vyxen did a lot of yelling and stomping around. She would have had a drink but vampires are allergic to alcohol and all food so she is really good at brooding.
Anyway I could go on for hours I love my little disasters to death. Ask if you would like to know more!
