Breezy Point: End of the end of the (A) Line
Starting Point: The end of the A Line, Rockaway Park Beach 116 st.
The journey from the end of the line to the tip of Breezy Point is not for the faint of heart. The very tip of Breezy Point lies nearly 6 miles from your last train stop, and the bus will only take part of the way. With a little pleasant conversation however, people are pretty willing to give you a lift. There is also a bike shop for those not interested in hitchin’ it, although when you get to the beach itself it may be not so fun to lug your bike around.
Journey Quest
Get to the very tip of Breezy Point any way you can. Most of the quests take place along the course of this trip or at the beach, so make sure this is your first priority.
Send us your best above ground transportation picture be it from a train, bus or ferry (yes, there is a ferry).
Find a great seafood place. Bonus points if it’s behind a gas station. (Hint- Sandy banged Breezy Point up pretty badly so do this closer to the train)
Find the localiest local bar and watch all heads turn towards you as you enter. Take a picture at your own risk.
The beach is home to driftwood, rusted artifacts and beautiful glass. Send us your most striking found art photograph.
Find the most intriguing sea creature, alive or shell or deceased.
Reach the very tip (screenshot of map location and live photo for bonus points).
There are some parts of Breezy Point that are leased from the Federal Government and off limits, but for the most part if you are polite it seems as though the beaches are fair game. That being said, follow the fishermen, they know the lay of the land.
