maybe this is a hot take but i think parents should be better at being parents than their children are at being children. like, i know people aren’t perfect and so parents can’t be, and i firmly believe there’s no “right” way to parent, but like, even if your kids are shitty and awful and hard to manage, your response should still be to try to be the best parent you can. it’s not a reciprocal thing.
