‼️WHY DO YOU NEED QUICK CARBS AFTER YOUR WORKOUT⁉️ . Alright folks, class is in session, so I believe that we are all on the same page with taking post workout protein after your training session and why that’s beneficial, right? Ok good (if not, I’ll post about it tomorrow, or you can DM me)! . But what about post workout carbs? . As we know, when we workout we are depleting our glycogen stores, which means burning our carbs and causing micro-trauma tears to our muscles. . Also, after we busted our ass in the gym, got a crazy pump, and felt like we made some gains, we go home and take protein, right? Well yes, and no, hang with me here. . You are 50% correct with taking post workout protein, but you are missing the other 50%, carbs. . But why? . Alright, after we depleting our glycogen stores, we MUST replace them! However, must people take a protein with very little carbs (5-10g)!!! . So if I don’t get carbs, what happens? What’s the big deal? . Alright, when you don’t replenish your glycogen stores you body goes into a state called gluconeogensis, which means it breaks down your protein that you just consumed, specially targeting the key amino acids, and converts them into glucose in order to replenish your glycogen stores. Do you see the problem yet? . In short term your body takes that protein, converts it to carbs in order to replenish those carbs that you lose while getting big. . So If you aren’t taking any QUICK carbs after your workout, you are missing out on a lot of gains, muscle recovery, muscle strength, and muscle growth! .
