Quiet Peace

Two weeks ago I was assaulted by someone I've known since I was 14. I've confronted him. He says he's sorry. It doesn't change what he did to shatter the quiet peace I was building. It proved all my distrust for American men. It sent my PTSD through the proverbial roof. I've relearned not to trust. Just when one man had taught me it's safe to do just that - trust. I'll adjust. I'll hunker down & battle down the hatches, & teach myself to live again. All desires I had to start over are gone. I know I won't date again. How can I? One day, maybe that one guy will ... Until then, I'll learn to trust me, to listen to me, & most importantly, to love me.
