Steve pressed his lips together as he sighed and leaned back against his truck. It was sweltering today, which he wouldn’t have minded if he could go for a swim, but it also happened to be a very busy workday. He pushed himself off his truck and started into the bar, letting out a happy sigh as the cool air of the air conditioner hit him. He slowly moved to the bar and sat down, ordering a cold beer for himself. Nothing like a nice cold drink after work with Danny. Wait... where was Danny? Steve pulled out his phone and sighed. He got stood up by Danny, but that was understandable since Charlie had probably wanted to go get ice cream. Whatever might as well enjoy a nice cold drink anyway.

Despite the many promises that he would walk off the ship to follow Bertie and be there to support him, Theodore really hadn’t been prepared for the whirlwind of a day that it became. Once the officials had even been convinced to take him along, that is, they hadn’t really been thrilled. 

Well, eventually he was left on his own as his friend was whisked away and now the sailor was quietly wandering palace halls. The place was like a museum, massive, pristine, very much looking like a display instead of somewhere to live. Theodore brightened when he saw someone else that appeared out of place and quickly made his way over. “Uh, hello.” He waved, cheer faltering a little as he suddenly wondered who it might be that was able to wander the palace. Family, maybe? “Um, Lieutenant Groves. Uh, Theodore.”

LMAO OK SO SINCE TUMBLR IS A SHITSTAIN, here comes a callout

This one’s dedicated to @quietresistence, who (  though claiming to not be antisemitic bc “there might not be in the group verse yet, but there are Jewish muns writing in that fandom and I know Jewish muns who’ve written members of the SS.” Like THAT makes it any more excusable  )  is incredibly antisemitic !!  I mean what would you expect when you make a group verse whose cover photo is THIS

Parading around with a SWASTIKA as your cover photo is, guess what? Antisemitic. As hell. Then getting into the description of their verse, under the “Basic Information” segment, it says this : “There are three basic affiliations: Nazis, Resistance, and Neutrals.  Nazis don’t only have to members of the government, but also anyone that strongly affiliated with them (ie. the Smith Family).”  Aka “we are saying that it is perfectly ok for you to play a character that is a Nazi.”  If you need help knowing why that’s wrong, then I really don’t know what to tell you because that is honestly common sense.

Anyways everyone is encouraged to reblog this so that way we can hopefully shut down this antisemitic behaviour.  And to @quietresistence, if you’re reading this, this is your sign to STOP LETTING PEOPLE RP AS NAZIS because it is so wrong on so many levels.

Parties. There was a mix of feelings regarding them, on the one hand, James considered it a demonstration of his social status, his friend from Cambridge dragging him to the most prestigious of events which so often allowed for opportunistic encounters with some equally powerful people. On the other hand was that in most instances such events were gruellingly dull with people he would not like to bare the company of for more than a few hours. Rich and pompous men and women with inherited stature but no brains or sense to back it up. Mostly, the entertainment came from assessing the on goings between different people, who disliked who, who it was that was pretending their wealth was still their own.

The latest invite was that of one of the larger social balls, while it was not at the top end of the party calender, it was still enough to merit a visit from the professor who took to scanning the room to begin his mild entertainment for the evening in assessing the guests, that was until his gaze settled on a face he did not know, something about her suggested she bore greater intelligence than some of the gentry around her, the accent vivid but the tone gentle enough to be hidden in the chorus of people and that potential earned his intrigue, thus he approached.

“A fine evening, though it appears as if it may be a busy one.” He smiled politely to her. “Plenty of people to meet and converse with. I can’t say I have seen you attend one of these events in the past, Miss?”

facing the promise of darkness | @quietresistence

Sorren may have been ruthless, but he was not cruel--a distinction that most people seemed not to make, at least not with regard to the King of the Frozen Wastes, as they liked to call him. His city in the mountains was cold and snowy, but the abundance of various ores meant he always had superior armor and weapons. Sometimes, however, people thought they could take him on.

They always fought a losing battle.

One kingdom in particular had quite the history with his, a seemingly never-ending trend of bad blood. Thus, when the two armies reached a truce, Sorren attempted negotiations to stop the fighting for good. The most logical solution was to tie the kingdoms together in some way, and the easiest of those was, of course, a marriage. But the king found that his reputation preceded him, and not in a good way, as it looked like no one was willing to accept an engagement.

It certainly didn’t help that he looked more and more irritated with every passing minute. Gazing out at the crowd of nobles and spectators gathered for the announcement, he began to think that maybe trying to end the war was a waste of time.

She supposes she could only dodge her father’s friends for so long. Evelyn was bound to be tossed from the kitchen and out into the social atmosphere that had become her beloved and tranquil backyard. “Evelyn, darling go out to the party! The dishes will be taken care of. After all it is your birthday.” Cheeks redden as one of her neighbors gently takes her arm and escorts her outside. Washing the dishes had been her excuse not to join in on the festivities and her father was too busy discussing work to notice her absence. Hands smooth over her pale yellow dress as she moves out onto the back lawn. Green hues search for a few friendly faces who she felt comfortable with. Eyes land on the once construction worker turned spy, Joe Blake. His blue hues meet her gaze and she quickly looks away as her cheeks turn rosy once more.

Evelyn moves through the guests and stops every so often as someone wishes her a happy birthday. She breaths a sigh of relief as she finally finds Kat standing amongst the crowd. “Thank goodness you’ve came!” Evelyn’s arm wraps around the other woman’s as she stands beside her. “There are far too many people here for my liking. Really I would have been happy with dinner in followed by some tv. This was father’s idea. Quite literally a surprise.”  quietresistence // closed starter

He had nearly let out a pleasant moan when her hands squeezed his shoulders, managing to stay it as he looked up with her with a subtle quirk of a smile. Now this was very nice, and certainly very sweet of Katherine to do this for him.

         “Possibly forgetting to watch myself when I was busy gazing at you instead.”

A peck on her fingers, and he gestured her to sit with him, book going down.
