Unpopular opinions !

Ok maybe this is a character flaw for me, but as a general rule, I suppose that I have the expectation that people who follow me will notice that my blog description says "canon divergent", which means I HOPE everyone takes the time to read said divergence.

To me, divergence usually implies that canon events have been changed enough that you shouldn't assume everything went down as in canon.

I've both had AND seen situations where people are interacting with me, and assume something about my character's portrayal/actions/experiences... which makes it awkward for me because now I have to either not respond to that ask/thread, or message them and remind them that the canon-thing doesn't apply to my muse. I just wish people felt more comfortable to message me just to check "hey, does this canon thing still apply to your muse?" , because I also don't expect them to remember every little thing about my muse 😭 I've been writing Mary since she was first launched ! A lot has changed since 2015 ! ... Some people forget she's even a character.

Venturing into Magnolia was something that she did not do often, but she was expecting a package at the post office. The old mailman had been attuned enough to nature to brave the forest and deliver packages and letters to her mailbox---that already was quite a bit away from her cottage. She swallowed. Her neighbour used to check her mailbox for her now and then and bring her her mail when he came over to tell her about his newest adventures. But he was away, now. And she worried, he had been so distraught when they had last met. Flooded with concern as she was, she was distracted---distracted enough not to notice the purple-haired girl, but not too distracted to actually bump into her; Porlyusica's reflexes kicked in and she pivoted at the last moment, her dark red cloak flaring dramatically.

(Really, she scolded herself, she needed to focus more.)

There's that one musician girl. She never seemed to speak up, never really joined up with the brawls (though that's to be expected somewhat), and mostly kept to herself. Now Elfman wasn't quite obligated to reach out, already accepting the other as family by her sole presence in the guild. If anything, it's been proven several times over that when someone joins, they seem awfully faithful to the guild's cause and to its members (albeit, perhaps radically at times). Such sentiments would be exactly why the hulk would feign complete comfort around the other, regardless of the task.

"-- What can a Man get ya?" He asked, leaning his large arm against the counter as he stared the sheepish girl in the eye. Today he's been assigned bartending duties, helping out while his sisters went out for the bit. Of course, even if they'd gone for a request for a few days, it's not like he'd be there every day. Just for now, he'd set aside his needs to go venturing - to provide a little bit of well-practiced service.

Returning her hand to her side, Hermit canted her head to him and smiled. For a certifiable genius, he really didn't make these kinds of connections well. “ It's not the powers or Ether Gear that make someone a hero. It's his heart.”
