A warrior otaku who watches anime, hehehe
Johto has my favourite starters overall, so here’s a piece to commemorate that!

This is the most original idea I’ve ever had.
Okay. While it’s not an original idea, *COUGH @bulbasaur-propaganda COUGH* I’ve been thinking about operating a blog like this for a while. And while I looked, I didn’t find any similar blogs on tumblr. So here we are. Maybe a Cyndaquil Propaganda page does exist somewhere. But even so, I think I can offer some unique experiences and random trivia to make this a worthwhile blog to anyone who loves this little Echidna-Shrew-Porcupine-Mouse thing. After all, he is my favorite and most treasured Pokémon.
So, introductions. You can call me Quinn. In addition to this blog, I also run @themememuseum . A blog where memes go to die. And @shaggyturtlestudios . My main blog and an exercise in neon aimless stupidity, movie reviews and shilling for my YouTube channel. But none of that is super relevant to this blog. What matters here is my connection to Cyndaquil.
My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Silver Version. I was around Eight at the time. The new game on the block was Emerald. But at that point in my life, I was used to being a generation behind what everyone else had. I had been a huge fan of the Pokémon anime. I would watch it on KidsWB and watch the same 4 VHS tapes we had over and over again. Not to mention the movie. I was a regular Pokémaniac. And yet, I hadn’t gotten to play any of the games. That all changed when I got a purple GameBoy Color for my birthday. And Alongside Super Mario Land and some dumb Arthur game I’m sure PeanutButterGamer covered. There was Pokémon Silver.
At this point in my life, I was mostly familiar with the Kanto region. So getting to explore Johto was a completely fresh experience for me. But this isn’t a Silver version appreciation blog. This is a Cyndaquil blog.
I can’t quite say what drew me to Cyndaquil. All three starter appealed to me in someway. But I think it was the dark colors and the overall cuteness of the small monster that won me over. Even to this day, I have a weakness for cute things.
So I picked Cyndaquil, named it after my best friend and set out on my Pokémon journey. Unfortunately, we never made it to the Pokémon league. We got lost in the caves where Lugia lived. And then the save battery died. (As I’m sure some of you know, the save battery dying is a common problem in the gen 2 games thanks to an internal clock.) but still, that cyndaquil formed the core of my team. And was quite the powerhouse. One thing about the gen 2 games that I really wish they hadn’t “fixed” was cyndaquil’s ability to learn Thunderpunch. Suddenly, not even water types were safe from us. The only thing we had to fear were rock types. So Almost poetically. it was a cave that did us in.
I would unfortunately be without a cyndaquil for several years after this. I would eventually get a copy of LeafGreen and learn of the Majesty of bulbasaur. And that Bulbasaur, simply named Bulb. Still lives on in my Pokémon SoulSilver and Battle Revolution games.
Speaking of soulsilver. Me and the Johto region would finally be reunited in this fantastic remake which remains my favorite Pokémon game to date. And through the power of wishful thinking, my Cyndaquil was reborn!
Unfortunately, I was going through my Weeaboo phase. And I named him Ryouga. Also, no thunderpunch.
Still, this time. We did make it to the elite 4. We did journey through Kanto. And we even beat Red. And it was all pretty easy too. Cyndaquil and it’s evolutions are still overwhelming badasses. And the fact that it followed behind me the entire time made the bond even stronger. Why it took them this long to bring that feature back is beyond me.
Anyway, I’m running out of time. This is just an introduction to the blog and I hope anyone who finds it has an enjoyable time! This is me, Quinn. And I’ll see you again soon.

Late evolution: Azula and Sokka
Azula although having high level attacks evolves late due to unresolved trauma and mental issues leaving her at a block but eventually forces evolution later on
Sokka evolves late because sometimes nonbenders take longer to reach final evolution due to not having high profile bending attacks to rely on leveling up although some nonbenders evolve faster than others depending on combat skills and pokemon species.
