A cacophony of voices comes from behind you, the crowds of people bustling about a familiar sound. Near the theatre you're standing next to, is a building decorated by various emblems denoting a certain fanmade Final Fantasy IX-2 audio drama. On the door was a sign. It read:

Top 5 video games

ooh, this is a fun one. in vaguely ascending order:

counter strike 2 - it's actually pretty tough to honestly put this on a list of my favorites, but i've played so much of it that i gotta. one deaging and throwing rounds by going for knives? incredible gameplay

minecraft - probably the only game i've put more time into than cs2. also the only game i've sweated as hard as cs2. i used to play hypixel skywars and tryhard it super hard, but i got a year ban because my cpu clock speed had issues. ah well i still have that classic two weeks of minecraft every year.

fossil fighters - had this game on my 3ds. still do actually. was my favorite game on it. i don't know why, but there was just something deeply satisfying about the gameplay of it that scratched my brain perfectly. i think i have around 300-400 hours logged on it. christ

binding of isaac - i first tried this on my 3ds after hacking it, and. damn. it's a tricky game to get into but once i did i was hooked. i got it on steam (and it is actually the most expensive game i've ever bought, despite getting it on sale because i got all the dlcs) and put together a dead god. on my 3ds i have a platinum god and am a single completion mark away from real plat god (fuck lost to boss rush. rebirth loss my behated. not to mention the hitboxes are kinda fucked. brimstone hitboxes don't shrink with their visual, and i think even linger a little bit longer than their visual? it's rough. at some point i'll get some total invincibility break and finally get the mark. until then...)

cruelty squad - i think i've heard it called the "psychosis aesthetic". i love when a game is primarily surrealist and secondarily horror. aside from some of the writing of all time (not like disco elysium quality but. it has a certain gnostic absurdity to it.), one of my top 5 soundtracks of any video game, and a commitment to a truly atrociously beautiful art style, it genuinely has some really great sandbox stealth game level design. s ranking every level and beating every level with the extravagant suit was really a great time. there's just something about the overwhelming misanthropy and corporate satire that gives way to absurdity. don't know how it's done but it's great. one of the funniest games i've play
