I have actually given this one a lot of thought, so thank you.

Jacob hated school. He was never a strong reader and he probably has dyslexia, though he isn’t sure. Before his mom died, she was always the one to read with Jacob. She was incredibly patient with him and reading time was special time the two of them got to spend together. After Sarah’s death, Jacob grew to hate reading because it was really difficult for him and because it reminded him of how much he missed his mom.

By the time he reached high school, Jacob had nearly given up on school. Every subject required reading and he knew he couldn’t do the work well, so he just wouldn’t do it at all. He became sort of a trouble maker in class, because he didn’t know what else to do.

After he started shifting, Jacob got really behind in school between the weeks he missed during his first transformation and the days he skipped to catch up on sleep after patrols. At that point, Jacob truly gave up. After running away from home, he had no intention of ever returning to school.

The only way he would ever finish high school is if Nessie wanted him to go with her. In verses not involving Nessie, he might get his GED if he needed it or needed to go to tech school for work.

Jacob hated school because it made him feel stupid. He felt like he wasn’t good enough. He might be caught casually insulting his intelligence, because he thinks if he makes jokes about it, other people won‘t.

Jacob is really smart, he just doesn’t believe he is. He works really well with his hands (cars, etc) and with people. He needs to be reminded of this fact, because he thinks “school smarts” are the one true mark of intelligence. He needs to hear other people say that he is smart and that he is good enough and to be patient with him when he’s reading.

Rock Until You Drop: Gwendolyn, Marie & Tony

The atmosphere was full of warmth & enthusiasm, as if the sun had chosen specifically this day to burn brighter than ever before. The air smelled like campfire smoke & barbecue; carrying with it the faint sounds of Rock n’ Roll. Bodies of flesh, sporting either tans or henna tattoos lay stretched out in the grass. Children ran care-free with summer excitement coursing through their veins, while parents looked on from lawn chairs with cool beverages in hand; talking casually to each other, as if they hadn’t not been strangers before today. It was all very mellow. Like all the cares in the world were gone & all that mattered was music.

Gwendolyn was in Marie’s lap, keeping herself entertained by blowing on a pinwheel, while Tony & the other members of his band checked their equipment from underneath the cool shade of a yellow tent. She lowered her sunglasses & watched the way her Childhood Sweetheart would lovingly the caress those guitars strings with his perfectly imperfect fingers. Oh yes, it was all very mellow, indeed. The earth was turning slowly & letting all who gathered at the battle of the bands, shift their gears into Summertime relaxation.

4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly? [x]

Not so much with his own words, though it is worse when he’s nervous. Jacob’s main struggle is with reading aloud. He has a really hard time, especially in front of large groups of people or people who seem impatient with him. He would give a speech on the spot no problem, but would refuse to read someone else’s words.

A Change Of Heart: Gwendolyn & Marie

Gwendolyn mind was racing in a mix of emotions. She fidgeted restlessly with the fancy trimming on the edge of her handkerchief in a desperate effort not to squirm upon the sofa. But she couldn't help being so impatient. After all, it had been six months since she had last seen Marie. She was excited to finally spend time with her best friend again & yet nervous that she would be scolded for not informing anyone of her choice to stay in England. After all...That wasn't a very responsible thing to do.

And of course, there was the burning heart phenomenon. It was a feat that had never before been heard of, even by someone as old as Thomas. A Vampire who responds to piano music with a rapid heartbeat; who gets fevers, perspires & ends up with pink cheeks! How ridiculous! If The Lost Boys knew that, they would probably laugh at her. How would Marie handle it? Hopefully, it wouldn't be too much of a shock.

Gwendolyn tucked a lock of blonde hair behind her ear & quickly spared a glance out the window. As usual, the skies were grey & it was going to rain soon. The last thing she wanted was for Marie to get put off England’s dreary weather. Sighing, her eyes fell upon her gold pocket watch. “Oh Marie, I hope you’re coming.”
